He was born in 1564 and died in 1642. Amedeo Avogadro was an Italian scientist. Ampere was a French physicist and founder of the science of electrodynamics, defining flowing current, which was named after him.

He became a stand up comic and turned it to a full time occupation in 1987. Ray appeared on the "Tonight Show" in 1991, his career took off and he started making regular guest appearances.

In 1995, he was on "The David Letterman Show" and the idea of a sitcom developed. In 1996, "Everyone Loves Raymond" hit the TV air-waves and remained one of the best loved comedies until it went off the air in 2005. That wasn't the end because it was syndicated and on re-runs on various networks. Ray's voice can also be heard in the animated 2002 movie "Ice Age".
