Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In early 1993 Barry Darsow aka Repo Man left the WWF after over six years of service. What was his last angle before he departed?

Answer: He stole the hat of Randy Savage

As Demolition member Smash, Barry Darsow was a three time co holder of the WWF Tag Team Titles from 1988 thru 1990. In the fall of 1991 he was repackaged as the mask wearing cackling Repo Man which had far less fan appeal and did not last as long. On an early segment of "Raw" he stole the hat of the late Randy Savage, Savage defeated him the following week to reclaim his property.
2. The year 1993 was the first time that the WWF presented its annual "King of The Ring" tournament on PPV. The weeks leading up to the event saw various wrestlers compete for spots in the tournament. Two wrestlers had to compete three times before a clear cut winner was decided. Who were these wrestlers?

Answer: Mr. Perfect and Doink the Clown

The weeks leading up to the PPV event saw wrestlers battle it out in "qualifying matches" to advance in the tournament. Mr. Perfect and Doink the Clown engaged in a brief rivalry which saw the two face off in three bouts before a winner was determined.

The first two encounters went to time limit draws and finally Mr. Perfect used his famed "Perfect Plex" to win the third and final match. For the first ten months of his WWF run the character of Doink was portrayed by Matt Borne who was a fundamentally sound competitor. So while the gimmick was lousy as least The Clown could wrestle.
3. During the summer of 1993 manager Dr. Harvey Whippleman brought a tag team to the WWF. What was that team?

Answer: Well Dunn

Dr. Harvey Whippleman's tag team was Timothy Well and Steven Dunn aka Well Dunn who competed in the WWF from 1993 thru 1995. Well and Dunn sported suspenders and bow ties in a sort of 1990s update of the famed "Fabulous Ones" of the 1980s. Although talented wrestlers Well Dunn's highlight was feuding with The Bushwhackers in an offshoot of manager Whippleman's feud against longtime ring announcer Howard Finkel. Steve Doll aka Steven Dunn died in 2010 at age 49 from a blood clot, he had previously survived a brush with death in 2006.
4. On November 24, 1993, the WWF presented the seventh annual "Survivor Series" which saw Shawn Michaels and three knights battle Bret Hart and three of his brothers. Which Hart brother was not involved in the match?

Answer: Wayne Hart

Bret teamed with brothers Owen, Keith and Bruce to defeat the team of Shawn Michaels and three different colored Knights. Michaels actually was a substitute for Jerry "The King" Lawler who had been feuding with Bret since the early summer of 1993. Owen was the only brother eliminated from the contest and was very upset at the conclusion thus starting the slow burn Bret/Owen rivalry which would last for much of 1994.
5. On January 10, 1994, on a segment of "Monday Night Raw" The Quebeccers lost The WWF Tag Team Titles in a complete upset. Who defeated The Quebeccers on this night?

Answer: Marty Jannetty and The "1,2,3" Kid

The team of Marty Jannetty and The "1,2,3" Kid upset The Quebeccers to win The WWF Tag Team Titles. Their reign would be very short as The Quebeccers regained the belts on January 17, 1994 in Madison Square Garden. The following year The Kid would win The Belts again, this time with Bob Holly and this time the reign lasted just one day!
6. The hip hop, rapping tag team of Mabel and Mo aka Men on a Mission were a colorful pair during their WWF run. When the team competed as faces from 1993 thru 1995 they had a rapping manager. What was his name?

Answer: Oscar

The manager for Men on a Mission during their time as faces was the crowd loving Oscar. When Mabel and Mo turned on The Smokin Gunns in February 1995 they also turned on their manager Oscar. The manager did not want to turn heel alongside his team and so was dumped both by Mo and Mabel and then by the WWF.
7. On March 20, 1994 at Madison Square Garden the WWF presented "Wrestlemania X" which saw WWF Heavyweight Champion Yokozuna battle Lex Luger in a match where the winner would face Bret Hart later in the card. Who was the special referee for the bout?

Answer: Mr. Perfect

Mr. Perfect aka the late Curt Hennig who had not been seen in a WWF ring since November 1993 made his return as the special referee for this match. Perfect disqualified Luger in what was to rekindle their rivalry from the previous year. This was ditched when Perfect's nagging back prevented him from a full time comeback. Also there was a rumor that Luger was to win the belt on this night but "spilled the beans" too early and was punished.
8. In the summer of 1994 the mighty Bam Bam Bigelow joined Ted Dibiase's "Million Dollar Corporation". Who had served as his manager for the previous year?

Answer: Luna Vachon

The bizarre and eccentric Luna Vachon had served as the manager/valet for Bam Bam Bigelow from 1993 thru mid 1994. When Vachon departed the WWF Bigelow hooked up with Ted Dibiase. Luna, who was the adopted daughter of the legendary Paul Vachon, returned to the WWF during "The Attitude Era" before her untimely death in 2010 at age 48.
9. To hype their match at "Summerslam'94" Native American Tatanka would week after week on WWF telecasts accuse his former friend Lex Luger of something. What was that?

Answer: He claimed Luger had joined Ted Dibiase's Million Dollar Corporation

For weeks on WWF telecasts Tatanka claimed that he had proof that his former close friend Lex Luger had sold out to Ted Dibiase and joined his heel stable. This was just an elaborate ruse because at the event it was discovered that it was Tatanka that had inked a deal with Teddy Big Bucks.
10. At the 1995 "Royal Rumble" the underdog team of Bob Holly and The "1,2,3" Kid upset Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka to win the vacant WWF Tag Team Titles. The following night on "Raw" they were beaten, by who?

Answer: The Smokin Gunns

Just one day after their upset victory The Kid and Bob Holly were defeated on "Raw" by Billy and Bart Gunn. This win would start the first of three reigns as WWF Tag Team Champions for The Smokin Gunns.
11. On April 2, 1995, at "Wrestlemania XI", the Smokin Gunns were defeated for the WWF Tag Team Titles by Owen Hart and his "mystery" partner. Who did The late Owen Hart's "mystery partner" turn out to be?

Answer: Yokozuna

After losing a "Casket Match" to The Undertaker at the 1994 "Survivor Series" the mammoth Yokozuna went into seclusion for several months. At "Wrestlemania XI" he reemerged as the partner of Owen Hart and the two won The WWF Tag Team Titles. Hart and Yokozuna would hold the belts for five months, sadly, both left us way too soon.
12. During the summer of 1995 the rivalry between Bret Hart and "King" Jerry Lawler was renewed when Hart defeated Lawler at The 1995 "King of the Ring" in a bout where the loser had to kiss the feet of the winner. Lawler was aided in this feud by his dentist, Issac Yankhem who would go on to be a genuine superstar in another persona. Who is Issac Yankem?

Answer: Kane

After kissing the feet of rival Bret Hart, Lawler claimed that he had gotten such a bad tooth and gum infection that his personal dentist, Issac Yankem, was going to take up his cause against Hart. Although Hart and Lawler had some fantastic matches the inclusion of the dentist, Yankem, was utterly ridiculous and very characteristic of the periods bad gimmicks.

In the fall of 1997 Glen Jacobs was repackaged as Kane the demonic half brother of The Undertaker, a role which continues to this day.
13. In early 1995, in another terrible gimmick, the youngest son of the great Bob Armstrong, Brian began serving as a sidekick to Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett. Who was he known as then?

Answer: The Roadie

After proudly serving his country as a United States Marine during the first Iraqi war in 1991, Brian James followed in the family business and became a wrestler. In 1995 he got a big break as the obnoxious sidekick of Jeff Jarrett and plans where to have an angle where James would have revealed that Jarrett had been lip syncing his songs. James would have been revealed to be the real voice and a feud would have followed.

The angle did take place in the fall of 1996 when Brian was repackaged as Jesse Jammes, "The Real Double J" even though Jarrett was in WCW. Brian James finally hit pay dirt in the fall of 1997 when he became "The Road Dogg" Jesse Jammes and teamed with Billy Gunn as "The New Age Outlaws".
14. This ECW star had a very bad stint in the WWF during the summer and fall of 1995 where he literally held The Intercontinental Title for one night. Who was this wrestler?

Answer: Shane Douglas

Shane Douglas arrived in the WWF in June 1995 where he was given the persona of a cocky academic dean, Dean Douglas. By this time Douglas had already garnered a reputation for being a malcontent and trouble maker. Well during his brief stint in the WWF he rubbed Shawn Michaels, Diesel and Razor Ramon aka "The Clique" the wrong way which resulted in his brief Intercontinental Title reign. Douglas was awarded the title when an "injured" Michaels forfeited it to him, he then lost it to Razor Ramon on the very same PPV.
15. On December 17, 1995 at "In Your House V: Seasons Beatings" Henry Godwin battled Hunter Hearst Helmsley in a ridiculous gimmick match. What was the gimmick for that match?

Answer: Arkansas Pen Match

Henry Godwin, the Arkansas pig farmer fought his nemesis Hunter Hearst Helmsley in an "Arkansas Pen Match" in which the two literally fought in a vat of mud with livestock running amuck. The famed Hillbilly Jim served as a special guest referee for the contest which was won by Helmsley.

Henry against Hunter was not the best feud but the goofy gimmick match just ruined everything, again characteristic of the era. The following year when Henry teamed up with his dim witted cousin Phineas, the duo employed Hillbilly Jim as their manager.
