Christopher Marlowe had written "Doctor Faustus" during the era of Elizabethan theatre (circa 1592). A couple centuries later, German playwright and poet Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe published Part One, and then over twenty years later, Part Two, of his own play, entitled "Faust" It is not clear, though, if Von Goethe had ever even seen or read Marlowe's play.
