1. What's the major component of air?

Answer: Nitrogen

Nitrogen makes up 78 percent of air. The rest is oxygen, argon, and carbon dioxide respectively.
2. Where's the driest place on earth?

Answer: Antarctica

Some areas in Antarctica have not had any rain for over two million years. McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica have winds which can reach up to 320 kph or 200 mph. Hence, the katabatic winds can evaporate all moisture keeping the carcasses of dead animals preserved for a very long time.
3. Goldfish have a three-second memory.

Answer: False

In 2003, research from scientists at the University of Plymouth proved that goldfish have a memory-span of three months or more. Also, the fish could distinguish between different colors, sounds, and shapes.
4. Where was the original "Santa" from?

Answer: Turkey

St. Nicholas of Myra, later known as Santa in legend, worked and lived in the sunny Turkish town of Demre. The mythical image of Christmas Santa was popularized by Clement Moore's poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas".
5. Which metal makes the best conductor of both heat and electricity?

Answer: Silver

Silver makes the best conductor; however it is more expensive than copper. Also, silver can be used as food or water sterilizing containers, as noticed by Romans and Greeks.
6. Which of these was the first creature in space?

Answer: Fruit fly

The fruit flies were blasted into space by scientists in 1946. They were used as test subjects to determine the effect of radiation at high altitudes.
7. What color is the universe?

In 2002, astronomers at John Hopkins University measured 200,000 galaxies to determine the color of the universe. They added and then averaged the numeric values of the colors of the different galaxies to come up with beige.
8. Where did the first camels originate?

Answer: North America

Camels first appeared in the grasslands of America. Four million years ago, they entered Asia via the Bering land bridge. The extinction of North American camels was caused by the Ice Age and human hunters.
9. Which one of these is most likely to survive from nuclear war?

Answer: D. Radiodurans bacterium

Deinococcus Radiodurans bacterium can withstand radiation levels of 1.5 million rads. Hence, it is 75 times more resistant to radiation than a cockroach. Also, the fruit fly can tolerate 64,000 rads, which is three times more than a cockroach.
10. Carrots improve normal night vision.

Answer: False

Carrots are full of Vitamin A, but they do not improve normal sight in the dark. A person suffering from night blindness, however, can treat it by consuming foods rich in Vitamin A. Apricots, spinach, and bilberries are richer in Vitamin A than carrots.
