The airport was named after Mother Teresa. Its full name is Tirana International Airport Nėnė Tereza. It is located in the village of Rinas, which can be found about six miles from Tirana. Mother Teresa is well known for her humanitarian work. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
