Answer: Elvis Presley

It was Elvis. He went to Sun Recording Studios in Memphis, TN, in July, 1954 to record blues-singer Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup's song "That's All Right, Mama" (which he recorded in 1946).
2. Which of these types of 50s skirts had large appliques of dogs on them?

Answer: poodle skirts

They were usually pink or black with large appliques of poodles on the bottom, next to the hem. They had a "leash" going up to the waistline, and they had crinolines, frilly petticoats, underneath to make them stand out wide, and they were a complete circle all the way around.
3. What are the hairdos commonly associated with "greasers" called in the US?

Answer: Ducktail hairdos

They were ducktail hairdos. Elvis had one, Danny from "Grease" had one, Fonzie from "Happy Days" had one, all '50's "greasers" had one. They combed it back with lots and lots of Brylcreem to make it look almost hard.

James Dean died en route to a road race in 1955. He was known for three movies, "East of Eden", "Rebel Without a Cause", and "Giant." He died on September 30, 1955.

The Korean War took place between 1950 and 1953. It was actually fought between North Korea (with Chinese backing) and South Korea, but the U.S. and its allies stepped in on the side of South Korea.

The Boston Celtics won a series of 11 championships from 1956-1969. During this time span, Wilt Chamberlain was a popular player.

Answer: I Love Lucy

"I Love Lucy" was a popular 1950s sitcom. It starred Lucille Ball as Lucy, and her husband Desi Arnaz as her Cuban sitcom husband Ricky Ricardo, and her sitcom best friend Ethel Mertz with her husband Fred. It showed the daily life of Lucy and Ethel, and their numerous schemes to get into trouble.
