He was only 31 years old and opened his law practice in the heart of the the territory his rangers had operated in during the war.
2. At the battle of Chancellorsville, VA. (1863) what Union general was in command?

Answer: Hooker

Hooker thought that by driving Gen. Lee out of his entrenchments the latter would give him battle. Gen. Lee was aware that his army was outnumbered and the Union army was moving to his rear. Gen. Jackson arrived and advanced on Hooker's force. At that time Hooker withdrew back to the Wilderness.
3. Allen Pinkerton was from what country?

He was born in Glasgow , Scotland. His father was a policeman, he emigrated to the USA aged 23. He prevented the the kidnapping of Pres. Lincoln in Baltimore who was on his way to Washington.

Butler was a man who ruled the south largest city ruthlessly. He and his brother used their positions to make millions of dollars for themselves. In 1862 Gen. Banks had 100 political prisoners released because Butler had put them in prison for for not praying for Pres. Lincoln.

The Union felt since South Carolina was the first state to leave the Union it would have to pay. The Union soldiers called it the " Cradle of Secession ". They destroyed everything in their path while marching through it.

Col. Mosby had a price on his head by Gen. Grant. He said " if he was captured he was to be hung."
