There are 144 letters in a Bananagrams set, which includes nine Ts, six Ss, six Ds, and five Ls. Except for U, there are 11 or more of each of the vowels. Bananagrams first appeared on the market in 2006. It has several similarities to the word game classic, Scrabble.

2. In the card game of Uno, one of the most distinct features is a player calling out, "Uno!" When does a player do this?

Answer: When he or she only has one card left.

"Uno" is "one" in Spanish. If Player A does not call "Uno" when down to one card and is caught by Player B, Player A draws two cards from the draw pile.
If Player A calls "Uno" when he or she has more than one card, he or she is supposed to draw FOUR cards. Uno was developed by Merle Robbins in 1971 and has been sold by the Mattel company since 1992.

3. Which of the following scoring combinations is worth the most points in a game of Yamslam?

Answer: Large Straight

A Large Straight is worth 50 points. Four of a Kind is worth 40 points. A Full House (three of a kind and a pair) is worth 30 points. A Flush (all 5 dice with the same color) is worth 25 points. In Yamslam, players have up to three rolls in a turn to make a scoring combination.

A "Yamslam" or five of a kind allows a player to select any one scoring chip of his or her choice (usually the highest available but not always). Yamslam is produced by Blue Orange games.

4. In the board game Scotland Yard, the players work cooperatively to capture a criminal whose moves are controlled by another player. What name is given to the criminal?

Answer: Mr. X

The sequel game to Scotland Yard was known as Mister X. Dr. Boddy is a mash-up of the victims in Clue (Mr. Boddy) and Cluedo (Dr. Black). Jack the Ripper is the name given to a famous murderer in nineteenth century London. Professor Moriarty is the arch rival of fictional detective Sherlock Holmes.

5. A popular tile laying game is Qwirkle. In Qwirkle, all the tiles in a connected horizontal or vertical line must either share the same color/symbol or each have a different color/symbol. Which is not one of the colors in Qwirkle?

The six colors in Qwirkle are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The six symbols are a square, a diamond, a circle, an eight pointed star, a four pointed star, and a clover. Qwirkle was designed by Susan McKinley Rooss in 2006 and is published by Mindware.

6. The card game Fluxx is named so because the rules are constantly changing, or are in flux. Which rule is always true for a round of Fluxx at the start of the game?

Answer: Draw one card and play one card

Fluxx includes a card titled "Basic Rules" which states on your turn you draw one card and play one card. All other rules changes (of which there are many) work off of this. Most versions of Fluxx have you starting with a hand of three cards. Some goals (how you win the game) only require one keeper and some goals require three or more keepers. Fluxx has several theme varieties including Pirates Fluxx, Holiday Fluxx, and Batman Fluxx. Fluxx was created by Andrew Looney in 1996 and is currently published in all its forms by Looney Labs.

7. In the game of Rummikub, tiles either have a number between 1 and 13 or have a smiley face (for the two jokers). How many tiles can be in a valid group?

Answer: Three or Four

A group must have at least three of a given number (such as three 4s). Each tile in a group must have the number in a different color. Since Rummikub sets have numbers in four different colors, a group larger than four tiles would have at least two tiles where the numbers are the same color. Ephraim Herzanto developed the game of Rummikub in the 1970s.

8. In the game of Twisted Farkel, your goal is to be the last player below 10,000 points. After you accumulate a set of points by rolling the regular dice, you roll a special die to see which player gets those points. What is not a message on that die?

Twisted Farkel (sic!) is a variant of the popular Farkle game. The other choices on the die are Left One, Right Two, and Low Score. It is possible that the direction on that die could cause the points to be assigned to the roller. A Farkel (not scoring any points on the roll) causes the roller to earn 500 points.

9. Five Crowns games are relatively quick moving because of the large number of wild cards. In each round, how many cards are wild?

Answer: 16

A Five Crowns deck has five suits with two cards each for the values three to king in each suit plus six jokers. In a given round, the number of cards in your hand equals the card that is wild. (When you have four cards in your hand, for instance, fours are wild.) This gives ten cards of a given value that are wild plus the six jokers for a total of 16 wild cards.

10. In Sequence, players play cards to place their chips in a line of five on the board. Which card value does not have a spot on the board?

Answer: Jacks

Two eyed Jacks are wild cards and can be used to place a chip anywhere on the board. One eyed Jacks can be used to remove one of your opponent's chips from the board. All other card values are pictured on the board.
