Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who are the children of Iluvatar's adoption?

Answer: Dwarves

Aulė made the Dwarves because he could not wait to see the children of Iluvatar. However, the Dwarves were a little slow on the up-take, being nothing more than mindless automatons. So Iluvatar took them as his "adopted" children granting them lives of their own. Thus Aulė was humbled by the reality that he could never create any beings except mindless, obedient, slaves and yet could never make his wife be obedient at all. So things became very disappointing on many levels.
2. Who or what is Ormal?

Answer: The Sourthern Lamp of the Valar

In the beginning there was no light in Middle Earth except the stars. Thus, darkness was over all the world because the flashlight hadn't been invented yet. This posed a problem for the Valar, who were constantly stubbing their toes on boulders and bruising their shins on trees. So, Aulė Built two Great Lamps to light the world, one in the north, Iluin, and one in the south, Ormal. Side Note: The tax auditor from Menegroth was actually a team of two Sindarin Elves; Lindros Merrill and Mador Lynch.
3. What is Alcarondas?

Answer: A mighty ship

Ar-Pharazon,(In South Central Armenelos he was called Ar-Pharizzy) the last king Numenor was called "The Golden." (That's the Middle Earth equivalent of "Big Pimpin")He was the wealthiest and most powerful of all the Numenorean Kings. One day Ar-Pharizzy is in his Hizzy on Numenizzy and he was beefin' wit dem "G"s from dat Valar set. An he was like "Yo let's bounce to dat Valar Hood." So he asks his homies to bring his Bentley.

But then he remembers that due to technological constraints, Middle Earth doesn't have cars. So he has the "Kings Men" build Alcarondas, the largest and grandest ship ever built by the Numenoreans. Alcarondas means Castle of the Sea.
4. How did Ar-Pharazon die?

Answer: He was buried under falling hills

Ar-Pharazon decided that he did not want to grow old gracefully because, other than being able to order from the senior's menu at "The Maggot Garden" and "Apple Bree's" family restaurants, there was no real bonus. Plus due to an employee strike at Wal-Mart there was a shortage of adult diapers on Numenor. So he sailed to Valinor to conquer it, in the hopes of living forever. Iluvitar however caused hill to fall on him burying he and his men. So in the end, he ended with things weighing heavily on his mind.
5. What is the dwarfish name of Nargothrond?

Answer: Nulukkizdin

Finrod spent much time watching MTV (Middle Earth Television) when he saw Thingol in the halls of Menegroth, featured on an episode of Cribbs. He became so filled with wonder at how they "rolled" in Menegroth that he built his own hidden city of caves, Nargothrond. He was aided by the dwarves and was called by them Felagund, the Hewer of Caves.
Nogrod was a river in Western Beleriand.
Nauglamir was a necklace created by the dwarves.
6. The dwarves made the Nauglamir for King Thingol.

Answer: False

The Nauglamir, Necklace of the dwarves, was made for King Finrod Felagund. Finrod, kept it real with the dwarves and gave them "mad" amounts of dead presidents. So they hooked him up some stellar bling and called it the Nauglamir.
7. Mahtan was a __________?

Answer: Smith of the Noldor

Mahtan was a great smith of the Noldor and the star of Mahtan on Homes. Which aired Thursdays on Valinor and Garden television. Feanor married Mahtan's daughter and was taught much about smithing and stage presence by Mahtan.
Side Note: "Lorien Armstrong was the seven time winner of the Tour De Bree. Though a year after winning his seventh title he was accused of using the performance enhancing Longbottom Leaf and is still under investigation."
8. Which is the name of a Valaraukar?

Answer: Gothmog

I know, I know, I would have put Tom Cruise as well, but unfortunately the Valaraukar are the Balrogs. Tolkien only named two in his books, one was Gothmog, Lord of the Balrogs, who was slain by Ecthelion of Gondolin. The other was Durin's Bane, the Balrog whom Gandalf slew in Moria. We know that there were once many Balrogs so I guess it is possible that Tom Cruz could be one.

However Tolkien only named two and Tom Cruz was not the name of either.
9. Angainor was one of two great swords forged by Eol the dark elf.

Answer: False

So way back in yonder days Melko started causing all kinds of problems for the Valar. He would spread lies and rumors, destroy whole mountain ranges, argue with his brothers and sisters. Basically acting like your average High School Drama Queen. The Valar charged him with impersonating a benevolent being and sentenced him to three ages on the chain gang. Aulė was aware of Melko's heightened sense of fashion, after all, that "Little Black Suit of Armor" never goes out of style. So Aulė made Angainor, it's name means 'The Oppressor,' to hold Melko.

He forged it from the metal tilkal, which Aulė also made.
10. Brodda is a son of Bregolas of the house of Beor?

Answer: False

Brodda was repping "EASTSIDE" back in the day. He is an Easterling and ally of Morgoth during the First Age. Brodda became Lord of Hithlum and controlled that whole hood. Side Note: Eventually Brodda he broke into music starting a rap career under the name "Brodda Smalls" and was launched into stardom with his biggest hit, "I Love It When Ya Call Me Big Brodda."
