2. In the Battle of Azanulbizar in 2799 of the Third Age of the Sun, which famous Dwarf King slew the Orc King of Moria, Azog?

Answer: Dain Ironfoot

Dain Ironfoot slew Azog. Durin the Deathless was the first Dwarf on Arda; Thorin Oakenshield was the leading Dwarf of the party of the quest of Erebor.
3. The name given to the race of Elves who created the Silmarils, and dwelt mainly in Eldamar, is The Noldor. True or false?

Other families of Elves include Sindar, Green Elves, and Dark Elves.
4. The character, Gollum, from "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings", used to be a hobbit. But what kind of hobbit was he?

Answer: Stoor

Gollum was exiled from his home after killing his cousin Deagol. Deagol originally found the ring and Gollum, then named Smeagol, desired it so much that he murdered his cousin and took the ring.
5. The name given to the evil breed of Wolves who often made alliances with Mountain-Orcs is Haradrhim.

Answer: False

Wargs were one of the many types of evil creatures that were involved in the War of the Ring.
6. The First Dark Lord had many servants, with the most terrifying of these, save Dragons, being the Balrogs. Who was the greatest of this evil race?

Answer: Gothmog

Balrogs were more frequently seen in the days of the Morgoth, but one Balrog found his way into the deep caverns of Moria, and slept there for thousands of years, until he was awoken at the time of the War of the Ring. He was eventually defeated by Gandalf.
7. Isildur was the first king of Gondor, and also became the first bearer of the One Ring, save Sauron. This Ring, however, betrayed him to his death as he was ambushed by Orcs. Where did this incident occur?

Answer: Gladden Fields

Isildur is the ancient ancestor of Aragorn II, who led the armies of the free lands of Middle Earth against Sauron in the War of the Ring and the Battle of the Hornburg. He, unlike his ancestor, did not give in to the power of the ring, and survived the war to become King of the re-united lands of Gondor and Arnor.
8. Ater the War of the Ring, Legolas established an Elf Colony somewhere in Middle-Earth. Where was this?

Answer: Ithilien

Ithilien is the fair strip of land between Mordor and Gondor. After the War of the Ring, Faramir and Eowyn became the Lord and Lady of this land.
9. We hear a great deal about the two greatest wizards, Saruman and Gandalf, in "The Lord of the Rings". But who is the other wizard we are introduced to, briefly?

Answer: Radagast

Each wizard has his own colour. We see Gandalf the Grey, Saruman the White, and Radagast the Brown. There are two other wizards on Middle-Earth, but they do not feature in "The Lord Of The Rings".
10. Isildur was joint-leader of Gondor, along with his brother, Anarion, but Anarion died in the first battle against Sauron, being part of the Last Alliance. How did he die?

Answer: Crushed by a stone hurled down from Barad-dur

Anarion and his father Elendil lost their lives in the battle, but Isildur did not. It was he who cut the ring from the hand of Sauron, but his love of the ring lead to his death not long after.
11. One of the most surprising heroes of "The Lord of the Rings" was Samwise Gamgee, also known as "Samwise the Brave". After the War of the Ring, what position did Sam take up in the Shire seven times?

Answer: Mayor

Sam shows his heroic nature in "The Lord of the Rings", but his greatest success was when he mortally wounded the giant spider, Shelob, and saved his friend and master, Frodo, from seemingly inevitable doom.
12. Some of the longest living creatures on Middle-Earth were the the Ents. They were the Shephards of the Forests, but what was the name given to the other moving trees they commanded?

Answer: Huorns

Huorns are not seen much in the films (except for a short scene in the extended version of "The Two Towers"), but in the book it is told that they arrived at Helm's Deep after the battle had been won by Aragorn and his army. The Huorns killed off the remaining Orcs.
13. What was the name of the Uruk who was captain of Cirith Ungol when Frodo was taken to the tower after being paralysed by Shelob?

Answer: Shagrat

Shagrat, in the book, was killed by none other than Samwise Gamgee, after his victory over Shelob.
14. Which of the Ainur is known as "Lord of the Waters"?

Answer: Ulmo

Ulmo commanded each and every sea, lake, and river on Middle-Earth. Manwe was known as "the Wind King", Tulkas, "the Wrestler", and Osse was Ulmo's servant, and controlled the waves.
15. Which of these is not one of the beacons of Gondor?

Answer: Erui

Erui is not a beacon, it is a river that runs from the White Mountains. Eilenach, Nardol, and Erelas are all beacons of Gondor and it was through these and other beacons that Gondor called for aid from Rohan in the War of the Ring.
