Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the original movie "The Parent Trap" (1961), Hayley Mills plays both the twins. Who plays the twins in the remake of "The Parent Trap" (1998)?

Answer: Lindsay Lohan

The pranks and trouble the identical twins get into while trying to reunite their divorced parents make this a great family comedy. This was Lindsay Lohan's film debut after being on the soap opera "Another World" for one year. She won the Young Artist Award for best performance in a feature film and also a contract for three more Disney movies, launching her career.
2. In the remake of the comedy "The Parent Trap" (1998), Nick, the father of the identical twin girls, is played by Dennis Quaid. Who played Mitch, the father of the twins, in "The Parent Trap" (1961)?

Answer: Brian Keith

When the twins accidentally meet at summer camp, they decide to swap homes to meet the parent they never knew and scheme to reunite their family before their father can remarry. Brian Keith is probably best known as Bill Davis, the bachelor who became guardian to three children, including another set of twins, Buffy and Jody, in the TV series "Family Affair".
3. In the original romantic comedy "Sabrina" (1954), Audrey Hepburn is Sabrina, the Larrabee's chauffeur's daughter. Who plays Sabrina in the 1995 remake?

Answer: Julia Ormond

When the awkward Sabrina returns from Paris as a sophisticated beautiful woman, the Larrabee brothers, played by Harrison Ford and Greg Kinnear, fight for her attentions. Julia Ormond also had two brothers (Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn) who loved her in "Legends of the Fall" and best friends (Sean Connery and Richard Gere) who both loved her Guinevere in "First Knight".
4. In the remake of "Sabrina" (1995), Harrison Ford plays the workaholic older brother, Linus Larrabee. Who plays Linus in the original movie "Sabrina" (1954)?

5. In the movie "Freaky Friday", a mother and daughter unwillingly switch bodies. In the 2003 remake the mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) must perform a guitar solo while pretending to be her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan). What is the talent that the mother cannot fake while pretending to be the daughter in the 1976 original movie?

Answer: water skiing

In "Freaky Friday" (1976) the husband/father (John Astin) asks his daughter Annabel (Jodie Foster) to water ski in an aquacade show in order to impress prospective clients. Just as the show begins the spell is lifted and the mother Ellen (Barbara Harris) finds herself flailing around on the water since she does not know how to ski.

In "Freaky Friday" (2003), Tess is saved when Anna, hiding behind the stage curtains, unplugs her mother's electric guitar and performs the solo herself, giving her mother new respect for her talent and rock band.
6. In the original movie "Freaky Friday" (1976), a mother (Barbara Harris) and daughter (Jodie Foster) switch bodies after making a wish on Friday the 13th. What causes the mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) and the daughter (Lindsay Lohan) to switch bodies in the 2003 remake?

Answer: Fortune cookies

While eating dinner at a Chinese restaurant the owner's mother sees the two arguing and wishing that the other could see what their lives are like. She puts a spell on fortune cookies and when they open them they switch bodies during an earthquake that only they can feel.

The daughter, now in her mother's body, finds herself engaged to Ryan (Mark Harmon). Tess and Anna soon learn that neither one's life is a piece of cake.
7. Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" (1960) is one of the best thrillers of all time. Everyone remembers the shower scene where Marion Crane, portrayed by Janet Leigh, is stabbed to death by Norman Bates. Who plays Marion Crane in the 1998 remake of "Psycho"?

Answer: Anne Heche

"Psycho" was adapted from the book of the same name by author Robert Bloch which was inspired by the Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein. Although "Psycho" (1998) was one of the closest to the original remakes ever made it still got bad reviews and was a box office flop. Anne Heche played a geologist in the movie "Volcano" starring Tommy Lee Jones and opposite Harrison Ford in "Six Days, Seven Nights".
8. The first half of the movie "Psycho" focuses on Marion Crane up to her death in the famous shower scene. The second half of the movie, Lila Crane goes looking for her missing sister. In the 1998 remake, Julianne Moore is Lila. Who portrayed Lila in the 1960 original movie?

Dylan is not a Reverend in "Poseidon" (2006). What is his profession?

Answer: Professional gambler

The cruise ship Poseidon is on its last voyage back to New York when a huge wave capsizes the ship on New Year's Eve. The professional gambler Dylan, an ex Navy submariner, is seen playing poker with Lucky Larry (Kevin Dillon) before the rogue wave hits.

There is an architect (Richard Dreyfuss) and stowaway Elena (Mia Maestro) in the group but no pilot. Only six people survive and are rescued.
10. One of my favorite scenes in "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972) and "Poseidon" (2006) is when the group is almost to safety and finds a passageway submerged under water. Which actor/actress saves the others by swimming through and dies because of it in "The Poseidon Adventure"?

Answer: Shelley Winters - grandmother Belle Rosen going to Israel

In "Poseidon" Kurt Russell swims to the control room and reverses the propellers before he drowns, allowing the others to reach the hull, now the top of the capsized cruise ship. In "The Poseidon Adventure" Reverend Scott (Gene Hackman) tries to swim through with a lead rope for the others to follow.

When it takes too long, Belle, a former competition swimmer, dives in to save Reverend Scott. The two make it through but she dies of a heart attack.
