He actually played with The Allman Brothers band at the legendary Fillmore East, was a friend of Paul Butterfield, and played with his band early in his career, and toured with B.B. King in 1995.

This song was written about a love affair he had with Jenny Villarin, with whom he had a daughter, Selina, who was brutally murdered in 2000 along with Villarin and a friend, as part of an extortion plot gone awry.

As far as TV goes, he wrote the theme songs for "Dynasty", "Falcon Crest", and "Cagney and Lacey" among others. Pretty talented guy.

Answer: Odyssey

Billboard number 21, February 18, 1978. The group was a dance band based in New York, comprised of three sister from the Virgin Islands. Lillian, Carmen, and Louise Lopez were joined by a Filipino singer, Toni Reynolds, and Odyssey was formed. The only sad note, is the Van Warmer died of leukemia in 2004, at age 48.
