Johnny was born on 8th October, 1948, in Long Island, New York. Johnny played with the band from their debut album, right through to their final release.

Singer Joey Ramone, aka Jeffrey Hyman, died in 2001 from lymphatic cancer. Just a year later the band's bassist, Dee Dee, died from a drug overdose.

Their self-titled debut album included tracks such as "Blitzkrieg Bop", "Judy is a Punk", and "53rd & 3rd". The Ramones would go on to make 14 studio albums in their career.
