Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which day of the week is "creeping like a nun", according to McCartney in the tune "Lady Madonna?"

Answer: Sunday

This is a catchy piano number by The Beatles from 1968. It features the spiritual Harrison track "The Inner Light" on the B-side. Written by Paul (who plays the piano) it features all four Beatles singing with their hands cupped around their mouths.

The full lyric is:

"Friday night arrives without a suitcase
Sunday morning creeping like nun
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlace.
See how they'll run."
2. Which sad tune from the "Sgt. Pepper" album begins with the lyrics, "Wednesday morning and five o'clock as the day begins, Silently closing her bedroom door..."?

Answer: She's Leaving Home

Written primarily by McCartney it relays the fictional events surrounding a true story he read in "The Daily Mail". Lennon added the melancholy lyrical pleas from the parents of the young girl, "We gave her most of our lives" and "We gave her everything money could by". Through a strange quirk of George Martin's orchestral prowess none of The Beatles are heard instrumentally on this tune.
3. Which day of the week completes this satirical lyric from Lennon's "I Am The Walrus": "Corporation teeshirt, stupid bloody _______ man you been a naughty boy you let your face grow long"?

Answer: Tuesday

This song is featured in The Beatles' odd television/movie "Magical Mystery Tour". Lennon once recounted partial inspiration for the song from the poem "The Walrus and The Carpenter" by Lewis Carroll. Lennon would reprise the walrus character in his equally bizarre contribution to "The White Album" ("Glass Onion") by teasing fans with the admonition, "Here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul"!
4. On which day of the week does, "The celebrated Mr. K perform his feats...at Bishopsgate" from the song "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite"?

Answer: Saturday

Lead vocal is by John who wrote the song- he got the idea from an old poster he bought at an antique shop in Sevenoaks, Kent, when the group was making a promotional TV film for "Strawberry Fields Forever".
5. The closing lyrics of the song "Day Tripper" make mention of what kind of driver?

Answer: Sunday

The song is rumoured to have been about drug use, or "day tripping". The tune recorded in November 1965 features Lennon and McCartney on lead vox with Harrison doing background vocals.

The lyric reads:

"She was a day tripper,
Sunday driver, yeah,
It took me so long to find out, and I found out.
Day tripper, yeah."
6. Ringo took the vocals for this Carl Perkins number with the lyrics, "Well sometimes I love you on a Saturday night, Sunday morning you don't look right". What is it?

Answer: Honey Don't

The song appeared on the "Beatles for Sale" album in 1964; there are several versions with Lennon singing vocals. The original Perkins song was released as the "B" side of his best known tune, 1956's "Blue Suede Shoes".
7. Which day of the week completes the following lyric from the number "You Never Give Me Your Money" ('Abbey Road'), "Any Jobber got the sack,_______ morning turning back. Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go"?

Answer: Monday

The song was written by Paul when The Beatles' self-styled record label, Apple Records, was experiencing financial difficulties. The number fades away and blends into the beginning of Lennon's "Sun King".
8. Here is a three-fer: what song from Abbey Road showcases the lyrics, "Didn't anybody tell her, didn't anybody see; Sundays on the phone to Monday, Tuesdays on the phone to me"?

Answer: She Came in Through The Bathroom Window

There is some question about whether or not McCartney wrote this tune about the antics of an ambitious and intrusive fan. Many know the very funky version of this song as performed by Joe Cocker.
9. What harmonious cut from "Let It Be" album includes the partial lyrics, "...Spending someone's hard earned pay, You and me Sunday driving, Not arriving on our way back home"?

Answer: Two of Us

This song was actually written by Paul for Mortimer, a teenage singing group from New York. It was recorded by them for their first song on Apple Records but for some unknown reason the record was never released. The number begins with Lennon saying, "I Dig A Pigmy by Charles Hawtry and the deaf aids". Weird, eh? Interestingly, there is no bass guitar on this track.
10. Complete the title of this recognizable 1964 song by The Fabs: "____________ Days a Week".

Answer: Eight

This was probably the first song in rock 'n roll song in history to feature a "fade-in" at the beginning of the record. The catchy song was originally being considered as a single in the UK until John penned "I Feel Fine".
