Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start off with an early Beatles hit; can you guess this one in just three words? "should be glad"

Answer: She Loves You

The song that began Beatlemania; it was written in mid 1963 and is a true collaboration by John and Paul. "She Loves You" is the all time best selling Beatles single in Britain.
2. And here are three words from which other well-known early number by the Beatles? "not to tell"

Answer: Do You Want to Know a Secret?

This was sung by George, but written by Lennon/McCartney. While it became a hit for the Beatles in the US, in Britain the version by Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas was the one that climbed the pop charts.
3. What Beatles' song has these three words? "takes a trolley"

Answer: Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da

"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" was by Paul and had its origins in a phrase used by a Nigerian musician friend of his. John Lennon, it is said, hated the song.
4. These three words are in which of these Beatles songs? "fill the air"

Answer: I Will

This simple sounding song written by Paul -- possibly with a bit of input from Donovan -- took well over 60 takes to record! It appears on "The White Album."
5. So many great Beatles songs to choose from! Here are three words from one where the words are intriguing and the tune a bit exotic sounding: "day of leisure"

Answer: Girl

A song about the ideal woman/femme fatale. It appears on "Rubber Soul" and was the last track recorded for that album in November 1965.
6. "Forget the time" is a three word phrase from which Beatles song?

Answer: I've Just Seen a Face

Paul thought this lively acoustic number had a country western sound to it. It appeared on the album "Help!" in Britain, and then a few months later on the US version of "Rubber Soul."
7. "Dylan's Mr Jones" are lyrics from which Beatles song written by John?

Answer: Yer Blues

"I feel so suicidal just like Dylan's Mr Jones." John Lennon's raw confessional is full of despair -- perhaps mingled with just a touch of self-parody -- and it can be found on "The White album." Mr Jones is the lead character in Bob Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man" (from his 1965 "Highway 61 Revisited" album). The meaning of the Dylan song is much debated.
8. What Beatles song are these three words from? "In the limousine"

Answer: You Never Give Me Your Money

This song opens the medley that takes up most of side 2 of "Abbey Road" and is itself composed of several distinct song fragments with very different styles.
9. Don't let me trip you up with these three words! "I get high" are in which Beatles song?

Answer: It's Only Love

No, it's not a drug reference -- just the opening words to a love song by John, who later said he much disliked it. Paul referred to it as bland.
Some of you may recall that Bob Dylan thought the lyric "I can't hide" in the Beatles song I Want to Hold Your Hand was actually "I get high." But Dylan was wrong.
10. Let's conclude our Beatles quiz with these three words: Which song are they from? "ain't no dancer"

Answer: Helter Skelter

Who would have thought that Paul McCartney, the songwriter who gave us "Yesterday," would just three years later bring the Beatles closest to creating heavy metal music? This song is infamous because Charles Manson's twisted interpretation of it helped inspire the 1969 killing spree he led.

It is actually about an amusement park ride popular in England. The music is, however, pretty creepy sounding to me.
