Answer: You Don't Own Me

Lesley Gore was only 16 years old when she had her first number one hit with "It's My Party". "You Don't Own Me" wasn't as big of a hit for Gore, but Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton did a pretty decent version of the song in 1996's "First Wives Club".

Tommy James and the Shondells are one of those rare success stories that happens when no one is looking. Tommy James formed the Shondells when he was 12. They somehow managed to record "Hanky Panky", broke up and got on with their lives. A disc jockey started giving the song air time, it became a hit, and Tommy James had to pull together another group really quickly.
Also by Tommy James and the Shondells, "Mony, Mony" was #119 on the countdown, "Crimson and Clover" was #216 and "Hanky Panky" was #333.

Answer: Sloop John B

From their album "Pet Sounds", "Sloop John B" was a moderate hit for the Beach Boys. Brian Wilson's nervous breakdown, which occurred shortly after the release of this album, is thought by some to be the result of his having listened to the Beatles "Sergeant Pepper" album. Supporters of this theory believe that Wilson, supposedly obsessive about besting the Beatles, as being totally devasted by the mastery of "Pepper".
Also by the Beach Boys, "I Get Around" was #37 on the countdown, "Barbara Ann" was #61, and "Fun, Fun, Fun" was #91.
10. What was song #57 on the countdown? "With all the charms of a woman, You've kept the secret of your youth. You led me to believe, You're old enough, To give me love, And now it hurts to know the truth."

Answer: Young Girl

Dressing in blue and gold military-style uniforms, and assigning a rank to each of the band members gave Gary Puckett the hook that he was looking for. Fortunately they also had his distinctive voice and some really good songs to fall back on! Written by their producer, Jerry Fuller, "Young Girl" was a number one hit.
Also by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, "Woman, Woman" was #324 on the countdown, "To Sir With Love", by Lulu, was #95, and "Build Me Up Buttercup", by the Foundations, was #112.
