'Song for the Mira', a folk song in the Celtic style was written in 1973 by Allister MacGillivray. Its lyrics speak of a longing for, and eventual return to, the serenity of the Mira River region of Cape Breton, NS.

Answer: Anne Murray

Anne Murray first brought the song to attention outside Canada on her album 'The Hottest Night of the Year' in 1982. 'Song for the Mira' has been recorded over 135 times and has been translated into Scots Gaelic, French, Dutch, Mi'kmaq and Japanese. Some other artists that have recorded MacGillivray's 'Song for the Mira' include Terry Kelly, John McDermott, the group McGinty, and Matt Minglewood to name a few.
