Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The 1971 album "Ram" by Paul McCartney contained the song "Uncle Albert/Admiral _____" What name is missing in the title?

Answer: halsey

The B side of "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" was "Too Many People". The album "Ram" was the second album Paul released after leaving The Beatles. The next album, "Wild Life", was the first Wings album.
2. The final song on the Paul McCartney album "Band on the Run" was "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty _____" What number goes in the blank?

Answer: five

In the US this song was released as the B side of the single "Band on the Run". The song ends with a portion of "Band on the Run" being played. Here are some of the lyrics:

"Oh no one ever left alive in 1985, will ever do
She may be right
She may be fine
She may get love but she won't get mine
'Cos I got you
Oh I Oh I
Well I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff
My little lady gets behind"

A great closing song to a classic album!
3. This is the first track on the album "Wings at the Speed of Sound" by Paul McCartney: "Let 'Em _____" What is the missing preposition?

Answer: in

The album "Wings at the Speed of Sound" also contained the hit "Silly Love Songs". The album contains my favorite Denny Laine track, "Time to Hide", and the CD contains the country-flavored "Sally G" as a bonus track. "Sally G" originally appeared as the B-side of "Junior's Farm".
4. This track appears on the "Venus and Mars" album by Paul McCartney. The missing word can be found on a periodic table of elements: "Magneto and _____ Man" What is the missing metal?

Answer: Titanium

Here are all of the lyrics of this unusual song (even for McCartney):

"Well I was walking last night
Magneto and Titanium Man...
We were talking about you, babe,
Oo - they said -

You were involved in a robbery
that was due to happen
at a quarter to three
in the main street

I didn't believe them
Magneto and Titanium Man
But when the Crimson Dynamo
finally assured me, well, I knew

You were involved in a robbery
that was due to happen
at a quarter to three
in the main street

So we went out
Magneto and Titanium Man...
and the Crimson Dynamo
Came along for the ride

We went to town with the library
and we swung all over that
long tall bank in the main street

Well there she were and to my despair
She's a five-star criminal
breaking the code

Magneto said 'Now the time has come
to gather our forces and RUN!'
Oh no...
This can't be so...

And then it occurred to me!

You couldn't be bad
Magneto was mad!
Titanium too!
And the Crimson Dynamo
Just couldn't cut it no more
YOU WERE THE LAW..."

There seem to be problems with tense here ("You were involved in a robbery that was due to happen...). Time travel? And who's the Crimson Dynamo supposed to be? The song is actually pretty good.
5. This song appears on the 1978 album "London Town" by Paul McCartney: "With a Little _____" What is the missing word?

Answer: luck

The full version of this song on the album "London Town" is five minutes and forty-seven seconds long. The single version (which appears on "Wingspan") is about two and a half minutes shorter. The difference between the versions is the instrumental section in the middle of the song.

This has always been one of my favorite McCartney songs, and the longer album version is much better than the edited for radio version - it has a more "progressive" feel to it (in my opinion).
6. This song appears on the "Back to the Egg" album by Paul McCartney. The missing word is the name of a band that plays with McCartney: "_____ Theme" What is the name of this band that included David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, and John Bonham among its members?

Answer: Rockestra

Rockestra's line-up (from the "Back to the Egg" liner notes):

Guitars: Denny Laine, Laurence Juber, Dave Gilmour, Hank Marvin, Pete Townshend
Drums: Steve Holly, John Bonham, Kenney Jones
Basses: Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Ronnie Lane, Bruce Thomas
Pianos: Paul McCartney, Gary Brooker, John Paul Jones
Keyboards: Linda McCartney, Tony Ashton
Percussion: Speedy Acquaye, Tony Carr, Ray Cooper, Morris Pert
Horns: Howie Casey, Tony Dorsey, Steve Howard, Thaddeus Richard

Only two tracks on the album are with Rockestra: "Rockestra Theme" and "So Glad to See You Here". This album has some great McCartney deep cuts.
7. The 1982 album "Tug of War" by Paul McCartney has the following song that was sung with Stevie Wonder: "_____ and Ivory" What is the missing word?

Answer: Ebony

From the lyrics:

"Ebony and Ivory
Live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard
Oh Lord, why don't we?

We all know
That people are the same
Whereever you go
There is good and bad
In everyone
We learn to live
We learn to give each other
What we need to survive
Together alive"

The song "What's That You're Doing" on "Tug of War" is another collaboration between Paul and Stevie.
8. This song by Paul McCartney is the opening track on the 1989 album "Flowers in the Dirt" and is sung with Elvis Costello: "My Brave _____" What is the missing word?

Answer: face

Here is a section of the lyrics:

"I've been living a lie
Unaccustomed as I am
To the work of a housewife,
I've been breaking up
Dirty dishes and throwing them away.

Ever since you left I have been trying to
Compose a 'baby will you please come home' note
Meant for you.
As I clear away another
Untouched t.v. dinner
From the table I laid for two."

This doesn't sound like he's singing about himself. The song "You Want Her Too" on this album is another collaboration with Elvis Costello.
9. This song appears on Paul McCartney'1993 album "Off the Ground": "Hope of _____" What word is missing in its title?

Answer: deliverance

From the lyrics:

"When it will be right, I don't know.
What it will be like, I don't know.
We live in hope of deliverance
From the darkness that surrounds us."

The CD single of "Hope of Deliverance" contains the song "Big Boys Bickering" which has Paul saying a certain expletive several times.
10. This song appears on the 2005 CD "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" by Paul McCartney: "Jenny _____" What is her last name?

Answer: wren

From the song:

"Like so many girls
Jenny Wren could sing
But a broken heart
Took her song away

Like the other girls
Jenny Wren took wing
She could see the world
And its foolish ways"

I hope you enjoyed the quiz! Thanks for playing!
