Answer: Billy McKenzie

The late Billy McKenzie from Dundee also had a hit with the single "Rhythm Divine". Morrissey's song "William, it was really Nothing" was reputedly written after the pair had a short friendship. Sadly, Billy took his own life aged 39 in 1997.

Alex Kapranos and the lads give us a bit of a history lesson with their choice of band names. The B side of their single "Take me Out", was called "All for You Sophia" and was also about the Duchess of Hohenberg, although the band changed the spelling.

Their drummer was Bobby Gillespie who later went on to form the popular band Primal Scream. Successful in the 1980s/1990s, The Jesus and Mary Chain split in 1999. However the band has since reunited.
