Do You Know Scottish Bands? Trivia Quiz
This quiz has arisen from a chance conversation during our team's weekly Zoom session on how many Scottish bands could we name. Importantly for this quiz, the band must have been formed in Scotland, even if it has members from other countries.

Hopefully you found at least a few easy to get - I have been unsuccessfully trying to forget the Bay City Rollers for decades. I know many people loved them but I was not part of that group! The strong Scots accent from The Proclaimers in their major hits "I'm Gonna Be" and "I'm on My Way" leave no doubt as to their origins and is the cause of exasperation from my Scotland-born work colleagues when I try to emulate this accent!
Of the twelve Scottish bands listed, Glasgow was the city of origin for the most: Simple Minds (founded in 1977), Primal Scream (1982), Texas (1986), Teenage Fanclub (1989) and Franz Ferdinand (2002). The Jesus and Mary Chain (1983) were from close by in East Kilbride. The national capital, Edinburgh, spawned Wet Wet Wet (1978) and the Bay City Rollers (1969, but became well known in 1974). Of the other bands, The Proclaimers (1983) came from the small village of Auchtermuchty (in Fife), The Average White Band (1974) were from Dundee, Frightened Rabbit (2003) started in Selkirk, and Big Country (1981) were from Dunfermline.
I contemplated including Snow Patrol in the list of Scottish bands as they were formed in Dundee, but the band members are more associated with Northern Ireland, hence I decided to avoid the contention likely to arise. There are more than enough Scottish bands to fill the list of 12!
