Suzanne Lenglen was born in Paris in 1899. She won 81 singles titles in her career and was the number 1 player when the world rankings began in 1925-26. She is famous for openly weeping on court and sipping brandy in between sets. She wore 'revealing' clothes on court - showing ankles and forearms - at a time when women players wore petticoats and high necked dresses with floor-sweeping skirts. Sadly she died in 1938, of pernicious anemia.

Unlike most gymnasts of the time, Suzanne Dando didn't begin until she was 12 years old. However, she had a natural talent and soon joined the national squad. She gained her F.I.G. Gold Pin at the World Championships of 1979. In 1980 she was the British champion and she led her team to the Moscow Olympics in 1980, where she finished 27th. She then retired from gymnastics.

Suzanne Danco was born in Brussels in 1911. She studied at the Brussels Music Conservatory, and made her stage debut in Genoa in 1941. She sang in Europe, then made her debut in the USA in 1950. Her final performance was in 1970, after which she became a teacher in Siena.
