Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Famous boxer Jack Dempsey had a mix of Irish, Jewish, and what other blood in his ancestry?

Answer: Cherokee

Jack Dempsey, also known as the Manassa Mauler and Kid Blackie, lived from 1895 until 1983. He was the world heavyweight champion from 1919 until 1926, which is a mighty impressive record. His fighting style was a combination of aggression and rapid fire punches.

The crowds loved him. Jack (real name William Harrison Dempsey) had an ancestry of Irish, Jewish and Cherokee, but when he was a young boy, his parents converted to Mormonism as well. How confusing! Growing up he wouldn't have known whether to bless himself, get himself one or two extra wives, cross the Red Sea by foot, or scalp his opponents. Given his fighting style, his Cherokee blood seems to have won out.
