Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Singer - had a UK number one in 2003 with "Changes", a duet with his daughter.

Answer: Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne has many talents. Musically, he is famed for being the vocalist for Black Sabbath and also a solo artist, with the ability to spot a talented, relatively unknown guitarist and bring out the best in them. He is also known as a reality TV star, thanks to MTV show, "The Osbournes" which ran from 2002 to 2005, and is a huge history buff, as evidenced on TV show, "Ozzy & Jack's World Detour", although years of substance abuse often make his retention of historical facts slightly sketchy.

"Changes" (2003) was originally a Black Sabbath song, recorded by the band in 1972, about the break up between drummer Bill Ward and his wife, and the lyrics were slightly altered to give the Kelly and Ozzy version a more personal feel.
2. Soccer player. Played for USA national team 69 times.

Answer: Oguchi Onyewu

Onyewu retired in 2018, calling time on a very successful career that saw him play for clubs in France, Belgium, England, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, before ending his career in USA with Philadelphia Union.
During his 15 year professional career, he scored 17 goals, which is not a bad return for a defender, and in 2006, became the first defender since Alexi Lalas in 1995 to win the coveted U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award.
3. Ghost story author. Wrote the collections, "Widdershins" (1911) and "The Painted Face" (1929).

Answer: Oliver Onions

"Widdershins" is a collection of short stories first published in 1911 and includes the story, "The Beckoning Fair One", which, in 2019 is still rated as one of the finest psychological horror stories ever written.
"The Painted Face" (1929) is equally unnerving, telling the tale of a girl in Tunisia who is the reincarnation of an ancient temptress, and this collection also includes a tale of black magic in "The Master of the House".
Perhaps the most disturbing of his tales though is "The Rope in the Rafters" (1935), which Onions said was based on actual events that happened to his young son, Arthur.
4. German professional pool player. Winner of European 8-ball championships in 1996 and 2006.

Answer: Oliver Ortmann

44 German championship medals along with 28 European medals, won over a 30 year period show how talented and committed Oliver "The Machine" Ortmann is. He was US Open Straight Pool Champion in both 1989 when he was the First European ever to do so and 1993, as well as World Straight Poll Champion in 2007 and 2010.
In 1996, Ortmann was honoured with the highest sports award in Germany, the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt and in 2014 was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's hall of fame.
5. Married to Charlie Chaplin 1943 to 1977.

Answer: Oona O'Neill

Daughter of playwright, Eugene O' Neill, who wrote "Long Day's Journey into Night" (1956), Oona was a struggling actress who first met Chaplin aged 17 in 1942. They married in 1943 shortly after her 18th birthday and the resulting press scandal surrounding their 36 year age difference was a major factor in her father disowning her and having no contact with her for the rest of his life.
She was married to Chaplin until his death in 1977 and together they had eight children, the raising of which took up most of her time. although she did make a brief return to acting in "Broken English" (1981).
Oona died in 1991 at the age of 66 in Switzerland and is buried in the village of Corsier-sur-Vevey, next to her husband.
6. President of Nigeria 1999 to 2007.

Answer: Olusegun Obasanjo

Obasanjo was twice head of state of Nigeria. The first time was 1976 to 1979, after a military coup killed General Murtala Mohammed and Obasanjo was chosen as his replacement. Following elections in 1979, Shehu Shagari was named president and Obasanjo handed over power, while commencing his own political campaign.
He won the election in 1999 and in 2003, stood once more, winning re-election by over 11 million votes, stepping down in 2007 when Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was elected.
7. Actress, played Joanna in "Love Actually" (2003)

Answer: Olivia Olson

Olson was just 10 years old when she made "Love Actually", the movie in which she performed a great rendition of the Mariah Carey song, "All I Want For Christmas Is You". Olson had to have singing lessons to make her singing sound less accomplished as director, Richard Curtis felt that she was so talented, that audiences wouldn't believe she was really singing. She voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz in Disney show "Phineas and Ferb" between 2008 and 2015 and has released an album with her father, songwriter Martin entitled "The Father-Daughter Album of Unspeakable Beauty" (2013) as well as solo releases.

Answer: Ossi Oswalda

Unfortunately the rising popularity of "talkie" movies spelled the end of Oswalda's career and she made just two movies in which she spoke, "Josef the Chaste (1930)" and "The Star of Valencia" (1933).
She died aged 50, suffering from numerous health problems and in abject poverty, in 1947 in Prague.
