1. Who in 1986, was the first left hander to strike out a career 4000 batters?

Answer: Steve Carlton

The others retired long before, and were all right handers. Carlton, arguably the great left hander in the game, struck out his 4000th on August 5. He retired with 4136 in 1988, 2nd to the great Nolan Ryan.
2. Who was the 2002 All-Star Game MVP?

Answer: There was none

Displaying another brilliant decision by Commissioner Bud Selig, the All-Star game was canceled due to rain. Cal Ripken Jr. won it in 2001.
3. In 1949, Ted Williams missed his 3rd Triple Crown, by losing the batting title by .00016 of a point. Who beat him for the batting title that season?

Answer: George Kell

None of the others played in 1949. Williams led the AL in home runs and RBIs, but lost to Kell of the Detroit Tigers, who batted .343 for the only batting title in his career.
4. Which of the following was inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame first?

Answer: Rogers Hornsby

The others were all inducted in 1955. Rogers was the only player inducted in 4 years from 1940-1943. His induction came in 1942. He played for 23 seasons, mostly known for his time with the Cardinals, and retired with an amazing .358 batting average.
5. What 19 year old New York Giant batted .322 in 1928?

Answer: Mel Ott

The others were not born yet. Ott debuted as a 17 year old in 1926. The following season he smacked 42 home runs and hit .328. This Hall of Famer played for 22 seasons, and retired in 1947.
6. Who led the 1936 Yankees in home runs?

Answer: Lou Gehrig

The others were not in baseball in 1936. Lou, the consistent player that he had always been, hit 49 for the Pinstripes, and also batted .354. Joe DiMaggio in his rookie season in 1936 with the Yankees, smacked 29 for the club.
7. What team set a record for having 6 consecutive shutout wins?

Answer: 1903 Pirates

These were baseball's greatest teams. The Pirates hooked their opponents in June. They also set a record for 56 consecutive shutout innings. The team threw 16 shutouts in the season, led by Sam Leever's 7. They lost in the first World Series in 1903, to Boston of the American League.
8. How many times in his career, did Babe Ruth win the Triple Crown Award?

Answer: 0

The Babe never did it. His closest season was in 1924, when he led the league in home runs and batting average, but finished 2nd in RBIs to Goose Goslin of the Senators. 2 years later, Ruth led in home runs and RBIs, but fell short in batting average by only 6 points.
9. Who was the first American League switch-hitter in history, to hit for the cycle?

10. What player retired with over 500 career home runs, and hit them in only 16 seasons?

Answer: Mark McGwire
