Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which year were the club formed?

Answer: 1934

Peterborough were relatively late coming into the English football world. Their first season in the Football League ended in a 4th Division title in the 1960-61 season.
2. Who was the club's first manager in their history?

Answer: Jock Porter

Porter was Peterborough's boss between 1934-36, with Taylor taking the hot seat afterwards for one season. Poulter was manager between 1937-38, with Madden taking the reins between 1938-48.
3. Peterborough signed Trevor Benjamin from which team in 2005?

Answer: Coventry City

Benjamin began his career in 1995 with Cambridge United where he spent five years. A move to Leicester City followed, but in five seasons, his League appearances were very much limited due to loan spells with other clubs, including Crystal Palace, Norwich, West Bromwich Albion, Gillingham, Rushden & Diamonds, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Northampton Town. Benjamin signed for Coventry in February 2005, but left the club just five months later to sign for Peterborough.
4. Where did the club get their nickname of 'The Posh'?

Answer: A manager

The term 'The Posh' derived from Pat Tirrel, who, it is said, was asking for 'posh players for a posh team' to compete in a League, and it stayed with them ever since.
5. When Peterborough won the 1973-74 League Division Four title, how many home games did they lose?

Answer: None

Peterborough went undefeated at home that season, but lost eight games on the road. They won the title by three points over Gillingham, who finished second. Also promoted were Colchester United and Bury.
6. Which of these played the most League games for the club?

Answer: Tommy Robson

Robson played 482 League games for Peterborough between 1968-81. Seaman played in 91 League games for Peterborough between 1982-84, long before an illustrious career with Arsenal and England. Davies played 65 League games between 1997-99, and Steele played just two League games between 1999-2002.
7. When Peterborough set a record for their biggest League win in the 1998-99 season, who scored five goals in the game?

Answer: Giuliano Grazioli

Peterborough beat Barnet 9-1 away from home on 5th September, 1998. As previously mentioned, Grazioli scored five goals. Quinn scored two, Etherington one, and Hooped also scored one. Peterborough finished the season in ninth position.
8. Terry Bly scored how many League goals during the 1960-61 season?

Answer: 52

The Posh went goal crazy during that season. 134 League goals in total were scored by the club, making it almost three goals a game on average; an amazing feat to achieve in any League competition.
9. Peterborough reached which round of the League Cup in the 1965-66 season?

Answer: Semi-final

Starting out in the second round, Peterborough beat Newcastle United 3-1, Charlton Athletic 4-3, Millwall 4-1, and Burnley 4-0 to reach the semi-finals. West Bromwich Albion reached the final, after winning 2-1 and 4-2 over two legs. The Baggies also won the League Cup, by beating West Ham United 5-3 in the two-legged final.
10. What relation is Adam Fry to Barry Fry?

Answer: Son

Barry Fry was a former Peterborough manager between 1996-2005. His son, Adam, started out his football career as a midfielder with the club in 2002.
