Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Worf is seen without his Klingon cranial ridges in this episode.

Answer: Homeward

In order to help his brother, Nikolai, trick the people from the devastated planet into believing that they are still on their original world, Picard orders Worf to be surgically altered. We would then see the Enterprise's security chief without his familiar Klingon cranial ridges; in essence, the natural appearance of the actor who so brilliantly portrayed the character through all seven seasons: Michael Dorn.
2. A large fragment, salvaged from the wreckage of an ancient space-faring vessel from Earth and bearing an American insignia, is beamed into the Transporter Room in this episode.

Answer: The Royale

At the very beginning of the episode, the crew detects some spatial debris, which is beamed into the Transporter Room for closer observation. One of the debris fragments has the word 'NASA' inscribed on it, plus an insignia of the American flag. It's later revealed that the original pilot of the spacecraft, Colonel Richey, had attempted to venture beyond Earth's solar system, where he would supposedly encounter lifeforms that re-created The Hotel Royale for his benefit.
3. An alien device, equipped with a built-in replicator that can produce other devices whenever the situation calls for it, is brought onto the Enterprise in this episode.

Answer: The Quality Of Life

The Tyran scientist named Dr. Farallon was responsible for creating the experimental, remote-controlled devices called Exocomps. During a brief demonstration in Engineering, Farallon uses her computer to input a problem for the Exocomp on display to solve.

A rather sophisticated-looking tool then materializes in front of the Exocomp, prompting Data to assume micro-replicating technology was being used. Farallon herself then expounds on Data's observation, offering that the Exocomps were designed to be more than just replicators.

In several scenes following the demonstration, we would see the Exocomps replicate various other tools, which is instrumental in preventing the destruction of the lab down on Tyrus III at the end of the episode.
4. Q is seen in outer space and standing atop the Enterprise's exterior in this episode.

Answer: True Q

This episode featured a fun, albeit brief hide-and-go-seek game that Q plays with Amanda, the woman who was suspected of being a Q herself, in a test to see how well she can exercise her powers. We see Q hiding out in various public areas on board the Enterprise, Amanda materializing in the same familiar flash of white light to find him each time.

But a memorable moment in the episode occurs when one of those areas is right in outer space; specifically, Q is seen standing on top of the drive section of the Federation's flagship when Amanda finds him one last time. And of course, since the Q are an omnipotent alien species, no spacesuits for either of them were necessary. ;-)
5. Worf is sitting down and getting a haircut from Mr. Mot, the barber, but when the scissors that Mot is using comes into Worf's view after only a few snips off the top, Worf violently grabs Mot's arm to prevent any further cutting, then leaves the room afterwards without a word.

Answer: Schisms

One of the creepy things Worf specifically remembered in detail about the strange table is a metal object that resembled a pair of scissors, as revealed during the holodeck scene when Counselor Troi is attempting to help him and the others recall their experiences of being abducted by the aliens. Worf first tells the computer to produce a pair of scissors attached to the metal arm above the table, then orders one of the blades to be curved while the other is serrated.

This scene would explain why, earlier in the episode, when Worf goes to Mr. Mot to get a haircut, the resident Klingon violently grabs the Bolian barber's arm when the scissors come into his view while he's sitting down. Worf never explains his spooked reaction to the scissors to Mot, nor says anything at all as he walks out of the room, but we can infer that the image of the scissors triggered painful memories of whatever medical experiment that the mysterious aliens were conducting on him and the rest of the crew.
6. The Enterprise is equipped with a device that enables cloaking, as well as the ability to pass through solid matter, in this episode.

Answer: The Pegasus

The experimental technology that Admiral Pressman wanted to remain a secret between him and Commander Riker is eventually used to help the Enterprise escape the massive asteroid. Once the device is successfully transported from the half-wreckage of the Pegasus and integrated into the Enterprise's systems, Riker reveals to everyone that the device can not only cloak the ship, but also allow it to pass right through solid matter. To the bridge crew's amazement, the device functions perfectly. But in facilitating the Enterprise's escape from the asteroid, the device's usage angers the Romulan commander as well as Captain Picard, as the Federation's promise to not use cloaking technology was blatantly violated.
7. Riker physically assaults an alien holding him and fellow crewmembers hostage, diverting attention away long enough for Dr. Crusher to alter Geordi's VISOR to use as a weapon.

Answer: Starship Mine

When the aliens down at the Arkaria Base interrupt the festivities by attacking the senior officers and holding them at gunpoint, it becomes clear that something is amiss about the team preparing the Enterprise for the Baryon Sweep. In an attempt to incapacitate their captors, Dr. Crusher and company devise a plan where modifications to Geordi's VISOR will create a high-pitched sonic wave powerful enough to make everyone fall unconscious, including themselves. Everyone except Data, that is, as when the plan is put into action, he is the only one unaffected by the sonic output and successfully disables the Baryon Sweep endangering Picard up on board the Enterprise.
8. A Federation ship narrowly misses colliding into the Enterprise; shortly afterwards, the captain of that ship admits to the Enterprise not being familiar to him.

Answer: Cause And Effect

Up until the very end of the episode, the then-unknown ancient Federation vessel, the U.S.S. Bozeman, repeatedly exited the temporal rift and collided into the Enterprise's starboard section. But thanks to Data's realization that the number '3', which appeared in everyone's hands during the final poker game, must correspond to the number of pips on Riker's uniform, the plan to use a tractor beam to alter the Bozeman's trajectory is dismissed in favor of Riker's plan to decompress the shuttlebay as a quick means of propulsion. Thus, collision this time around is avoided, but not the awful feeling of Picard learning that the crew of the Bozeman had been trapped in the temporal rift for decades.
9. The Enterprise experiences a ship-wide power drain and gradual loss of life support due to its proximity to a planet, but after Riker reasons with an all-powerful entity down on the planet's surface, power and life support to the Enterprise is restored.

Answer: The Last Outpost

The planet that was a part of the ancient Tkon Empire not only prevented both the Enterprise and the Ferengi ship from moving; it also drained energy from both ships to the point where the Enterprise's life support systems gradually began failing, forcing sickbay patients and other civilians on board to cuddle up for extra body warmth.

It is soon revealed that the 'god' of the Tkon Empire, who had essentially been 'awakened from his sleep', was the mighty force behind the gravitational hold on the two ships as well as the Enterprise's power drain. Fortunately, Riker is able to reason with the majestic alien ruler, explaining that he and his race are not the barbarians whom the Ferengi make them appear to be.

The honest words are taken to heart, and main power back on board the Enterprise is restored back to normal.
10. Ensign Ro is seen working at the conn station on board the Enterprise in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Rascals

This one's a little tricky! In the opening teaser of the episode that saw Picard, Keiko, Guinan and the troubled Bajoran conn officer herself get transformed into kids due to a transporter accident, we do see Ro Laren stationed at the conn while the aforementioned foursome are on board the shuttle.

However, we would not see Ensign Ro at the Enterprise's conn station at any time following the foursome's arrival back on board the Federation's flagship. In "Cause And Effect", we see Ro Laren at the Enterprise's conn station during the suspenseful opening teaser...and its subsequent multiple reiterations whenever the time loop resets to the beginning of the original accident at the temporal rift.

She briefly yells out a navigational report while the ship is experiencing turbulence and on the verge of being destroyed.

At the very beginning of "Conundrum", Ro Laren again is piloting the Enterprise while at the very end of "Disaster", she's at her familiar conn post following resolution when everything on the ship is back to normal.
