Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Enterprise's computer mistakes Data for talking directly to it while Starfleet records are being accessed, but when Data begins explaining the misunderstanding in elaborate detail, the computer cuts him off before he can explain further.

Answer: Conspiracy

Data, after being ordered to do so by a very concerned Picard, is researching recent Starfleet commands via a tabletop computer. When he verbally expresses his astonishment in all of the information he's able to retrieve, the computer mistakes him for making an audio request and asks him to repeat it. Data tells the computer otherwise, then begins to explain the formal definition of him talking to himself.

His endless rambling ends abruptly, however, when the computer replies, "Thank you, sir. I understand." It was one of the few humorous moments during the series when the ship's computer, at times, seemed more human than Data himself. "In Theory" sees Data only verbally interacting with the ship's computer when inquiring about the presence of anyone entering his quarters besides Geordi and himself.

In "Brothers", Data does manipulate the Enterprise's computer into getting the crew to evacuate the bridge using disguised voice commands and all sorts of security lockouts, but there is never a moment when the computer is misinterpreting something that Data addresses to it.

Then in "Identity Crisis", Data does assist in the investigation regarding the disappearances of the members of Commander Leitjen's original away team, comparing the information gathered with known lifeforms in the Federation database, but in none of the instances he's accessing the computer is there an issue with his spoken words being mistaken as voice commands.
2. Wesley is one of three guests invited to attend an event in a room onboard the Enterprise, but his entry into the room is momentarily delayed when the doors are resealed and one last final touch to an interactive exhibit is made.

Answer: The Offspring

Wesley is accompanied by Geordi and Counselor Troi en route to a science lab, having been sent by Data for some mysterious reason. When he tries to open the doors, Data comments that they're all early, then closes the doors so that a prosthetic foot can be affixed on an unseen person. Once the doors reopen and his guests finally enter, Data lowers the cylindrical elevator where his android creation, Lal, is showcased, formally introducing his initially-gender-neutral and fully mobilized child. In "The Icarus Factor", it's Wesley this time who is extending the invitations, convincing Geordi, Data and Chief O'Brien to attend Worf's Rite Of Ascension ceremony on the holodeck.

In "Peak Performance", Wesley is actually one of several attendees to Ten Forward to witness Riker engaged in strategema against the alien observer of the war game simulations, and nobody's entry into the ship's lounge is delayed whatsoever.

Then in "Where No One Has Gone Before", the only interactive exhibit Wesley connects with are the animations on the computer screens in engineering that show Kosinski and The Traveler's experimental propulsion fields in progress. Wesley, and many other crewmembers, are already present, and nobody is restricted from entering engineering before, during or after both the initial test run and the final run at the end that catapults the Enterprise back into its known galaxy.
3. A replicated Starfleet-issue phaser rifle is tested for authenticity in engineering; afterwards, it is presented to two Klingons as being fake and enhanced with alien technology of non-Klingon origin.

Answer: The Mind's Eye

Supporting the Klingon ambassador's claim that the Federation had been secretly aiding the Klingon rebels in a war for independence from the Klingon Empire is an apparent Starfleet-issue phaser rifle that the Klingon governor presents to Picard and Riker while down on Qo'noS.

However, upon testing the rifle in engineering, Geordi and Data conclude that the weapon was a replicated fake and that it was enhanced with the same technology used in a Romulan disruptor, which leads to suspicions that the Romulans themselves are involved in a plot to turn the Klingon Empire against the Federation.

In "Aquiel", the only aliens besides the Klingons to think about in this episode is the coalescent beings that assumed the form of the deceased Lieutenant Rocha and Lieutenant Aquiel's dog. None of these coalescents enhanced nor created any kind of weapons, nor any other kind of special technology for that matter.

In "Sins Of The Father", there were no weapons resembling Starfleet-issue phaser rifles to be considered at all; nor was there any other alien species involved in Worf's ordeal.

Then in "A Matter Of Honor", the two non-Klingon alien species to consider here are the Benzite ensign working on the bridge and the bacterial parasite infecting the hull of the Klingon vessel called the Pagh. Yet neither of the two species is enhancing Starfleet-issue weapons of any kind in this episode.
4. Counselor Troi is seen away from the Enterprise and accompanying another crewmember, whether for a brief diplomatic meeting or for some reason reason, in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Half A Life

Much of this episode didn't concern Counselor Troi; it rather focused on her outrageous Betazoid mother, Lwaxana Troi, who falls in love with the alien scientist, Dr. Timicin. At no point during this episode does Counselor Troi leave the Enterprise, and neither do we even see Lwaxana on Dr. Timicin's homeworld, despite the fact we see them beaming off the ship together at the very end via the transporter room.

In "First Contact", both Counselor Troi and Picard beam directly into the lab of the scientist at the very beginning of episode, Picard explaining that they attempt to initiate first contact once it's realized that an alien species has become warp capable and, thus, no longer subject to possible complications regarding the Prime Directive.

In "Home Soil", after Counselor Troi senses that Professor Mandl is concealing something and is almost in a state of panic in regards to the planet being considered for terraforming, Picard urges the ship's counselor to join Riker's away team to the planet's surface. Troi's concerns are valid; they eventually discover that there were lifeforms indigenous to the ground in danger of being killed by the terraforming experiments.

Then after responding to the distress call at the beginning of "The Schizoid Man", Troi accompanies the away team that beams inside the house down on Gravesworld, where an eccentric Dr. Graves wastes no time in showing his attraction to both the Vulcan medical specialist, Lieutenant Selar. and the ship's Betazoid counselor herself.
5. Four aliens--three of the same race and the fourth of a different race--are vaporized by hand-held weapons fire while down on a planet, but one of the aliens, plus an away team consisting of Riker and Worf, manage to escape and transport back to the Enterprise unharmed.

Answer: Loud As A Whisper

When the two feuding alien factions down on Solaris converge to meet with Riva, they ignore Riva's attempts at peaceful diplomacy and soon begin firing their hand-held weapons. Riva's chorus--the two men and the woman who spoke for him--are caught in the crossfire and are vaporized instantly while one of the aliens on one side of the feuding factions is vaporized as well. Fortunately, an alert Riker and Worf shield Riva from the crossfire and are able to beam with him safely back to the Enterprise before any other deaths can occur.

In "Conspiracy", the only alien being vaporized in this episode is the parasite (and how disgusting it was!) that was controlling the body of Commander Remmick. After subduing all of the the parasite-controlled captains and admirals during the dinner meeting at Starfleet Headquarters, Picard and Riker follow the parasite into the room where Remmick is sitting in a chair.

The parasite in Remmick announces that its alien race only seeks a peaceful co-existence, but Picard and Riker, thinking otherwise, phaser Remmick's head off before vaporizing the screeching parasite itself.

In "The Vengeance Factor", only one person is vaporized by hand-held weapons fire: Yuta, the last survivors of her clan. Then in "The Hunted", there is only one race of aliens represented in this episode: the Angosians. The two conflicting sides do consist of the programmed prisoners and their oppressive military captors, but all are of the same Angosian blood. Besides that, although we see the prisoner Roga Danar engaged in a prolonged phaser fight at the beginning of the episode, and the near deployment of weapons fire when the prisoners confront Picard and the away team down on the planet at the very end, there were no individuals ever seen being vaporized by weapons fire.
6. Worf is seated in the captain's chair in the ready room and giving orders to Picard while onboard the Enterprise, but this reversal of command structure only lasts temporarily.

Answer: Conundrum

After the memories of the crew have been wiped by the alien weapon, the senior staff is, initially, unable to determine which of them is in command. Worf offers that the fact that he is 'decorated' (referring to his traditional Klingon baldric worn over his shoulder) could mean that he holds a rank of superiority.

A short time later, Worf is seen seated at Picard's desk in the ready room when both Picard and the alien masquerading as 'Commander McDuff' report to him, giving the Klingon 'captain' their updates on the ship's status. Worf's time as captain is short-lived, however, when Geordi is finally able to retrieve a complete listing of the ship's personnel while on the bridge.

The computer announces that Picard is, in fact, the real captain, while Worf himself is only a lieutenant; the ranks of Geordi, Data, Ensign Ro, Riker, Dr. Crusher, Counselor Troi and 'Commander McDuff' are announced as well.

In "Parallels", although Worf has achieved the rank of commander in one of his alternate timelines, he does not, at any time, act as captain nor sit in Picard's chair in the captain's ready room.

In "Heart Of Glory", although Worf does request permission to address the captain of the Klingon vessel and to accompany Picard when speaking with the other Klingons rescued from the cargo vessel, he is not ordering Picard nor seated in Picard's ready room at any time. The same holds true for "The Battle"; despite Picard's mind being toyed with by the Ferengi's orb device, rendering the captain incapacitated for much of the episode, there's not a moment when Worf is assuming a command role and ordering the captain around.
7. Dr. Crusher walks up to a computer station in the upper level of the bridge after indicating the need to run a medical analysis, but she ends up accessing helm controls instead before an energy burst emanates from that station.

Answer: Lonely Among Us

When Dr. Crusher is possessed by the electromagnetic lifeform that the Enterprise encountered in the cloud, she first pays Wesley a visit before wandering onto the bridge, closely examining the helm station where Geordi is working. Picard confronts the doctor in regards to Worf's injuries, and when doctor admits she'll need to run some medical cross-checks, he tells her to use the library station.

The doctor then walks up to the station in the upper level of the bridge, but an observant Data realizes that she's accessing helm control. Beverly doesn't respond, and even before she can, the electromagnetic lifeform leaves her body and flows directly into a computer panel in a burst of blue light. Presumably, the lifeform had wanted to manipulate the navigational controls of the Enterprise so that it could return to its home inside of the cloud.

In "Suspicions", while investigating the mysterious death of the Ferengi scientist who invented the shield technology, the only things we see Beverly accessing without authorization are the medical records of the presumed deceased alien Dr. Jo'Bril and conducting his autopsy with the help of her trusty assistant, Nurse Ogawa, after being relieved of duty.

In "Imaginary Friend", the only energy burst of significance is the red energy of light that flies inside of the Enterprise and takes on the form of Clara's vengeful companion, Isabella. Besides that, Dr. Crusher isn't trying to manipulate the ship's navigation via a computer station, and the same holds true for the fifth-season episode, "Violations".
8. Geordi is merrily playing a musical instrument when it is promptly taken from him and broken, the now-damaged instrument then being given back to him after a brief apology.

Answer: Qpid

In the middle of Picard's speech during the archaeology conference in Ten Forward, Q transports all of the senior officers into his fictional recreation of Sherwood Forest, where Picard plays the role of Robin Hood while his crewmates assume the roles of Robin Hood's trusty band of companions. During the moment when they're all standing around, waiting to see what Q has in store for them next, Geordi is sitting down, strumming a mandolin that he somehow acquired with a broad smile on his face. But a nearby and very annoyed Worf isn't smiling, however, and walks over to take the mandolin from Geordi, smashing the wooden instrument into pieces before handing it back to the now-frowning chief engineer with a simple reply of 'sorry'.

In "Galaxy's Child", the only music Geordi is playing is the romantic music he's playing in his quarters in preparation for his 'date' with the real Dr. Leah Brahms.

Besides that, Leah, nor anyone else, smashes any instruments nor anything else in his presence.

There are no instruments being broken nor music of any kind being played by Geordi throughout the whole Sherlock Holmes adventure in "Elementary, Dear Data", and the same holds true for the sixth-season premiere that sees the crew having traveled back in time to 19th-century Earth.
9. A Starfleet officer arrives via the Enterprise's transporter room pad already in a seated position while his companion arrives standing up.

Answer: Too Short A Season

When the aged Admiral Jameson and his equally elderly wife materialize on the transporter room pad at the beginning of the episode, the admiral is seated in a powered wheelchair, unable to walk under his own power. However, as the episode progresses, the suddenly de-aging admiral shows signs of increased vigor as he grows more and more youthful.

By the end of the episode, the wheelchair is seen no more, and Jameson is the active, energetic man that he wanted to be, but the long-term effects of the de-aging eventually turn out to be fatal.

In "Relics", an injured Scotty rescued from transporter suspension does arrive with companions--the away team consisting of Riker, Geordi and Worf--but all are in standing positions when they materialize in the transporter room.

In the other two episodes, a passenger arrives alone: "The Wounded" introduced us to Captain Benjamin Maxwell of the U.S.S. Phoenix, who is a wanted man in connection with the destruction of the Cardassian warship and supply ship, while "Remember Me" presented us with Dr. Crusher's friend from the starbase, Dr. Dalen Quaice.
10. A Human, who is a special guest visiting the Enterprise, is initially unhappy with someone or something shortly after arriving onboard in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: In Theory

A bit of a tricky one to close out this quiz! "In Theory" saw Data hooked up with Lieutenant Jenna D'sora in a brief romance, which lasted up until it became clear that the Enterprise's resident android could not show the kinds of emotions that ordinary Humans can. Jenna, however, was part of the regular crew manifest; it's presumed that she and Data had even been friends for quite some time, given their dialogue about Jenna's ex-lover, Jeff, while they are working together in the very beginning of the episode.

In "Bloodlines", the Human man named Jason Vigo is transported onto the Enterprise as a safety precaution against the vengeful Ferengi named Bok, who is wanting to kill Jason to pay back Picard for causing the death of his own son.

At first, Jason is hostile and cold towards his 'father', Picard; he's only interested in the beautiful Counselor Troi, who visits the troubled young man in his quarters in hopes of helping him come to grips with the 'revelation' that Picard is his father.

In "Galaxy's Child", Dr. Leah Brahms is cold and hostile towards Geordi the moment she steps off the transporter room pad at the very beginning; she's nothing like the holographic engineer whom he got acquainted and cozy with back in the third-season episode, "Booby Trap". Then in "The Neutral Zone", the older Human bussinessman named Ralph Offenhouse is, after being rescued from the stasis chamber, furious with Picard and the rest of the Enterprise crew for not being able to contact his banks in order to check on his accounts on Earth.
