Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the first thing the interrogator says to Sheridan at the beginning of the episode?

Answer: "Do you have any allergies or illnesses I should be aware of?"

He then goes on to ask, "Are you currently taking any medication? Have you had any trouble with your heart?" The "Good morning," mind games don't come until a bit later.
2. Sheridan has always had an interest in politics.

Answer: False

The interrogator notes this as he munches on his corned beef sandwich. He then suggests that in that case, it is unlikely Sheridan would try to overthrow his own government without outside (alien) influence. Sheridan insists that's not true, and the interrogator records this as his "first fabrication."
3. What does Sheridan concede to in order to get part of the interrogator's sandwich?

Answer: That it must be lunchtime somewhere

He's not willing to give the interrogator ONE INCH, so he refuses to admit that it is lunchtime where he is. However, as the interrogator notes, they haven't fed the Captain since he was captured, at least two days' time, and he must be starving. So he finally says, "I'm sure it's lunchtime somewhere." The interrogator gives him half of his - poisoned - sandwich.
4. The next morning, the interrogator apologizes for poisoning Sheridan.

Answer: True

Interrogator: "I'm sorry I had to do that. It's part of the process. We have to break you physically before we can get to your mind. Personally, I find it... distasteful and crude, but they don't listen to me."
5. What does the interrogator tell Sheridan about his father?

Answer: He sends his regards

Interrogator: "Oh, by the way, I should mention... your father... sends his regards. He's being held at another facility near here. One of my associates is handling his case. When I stopped by to pick up your report, I uh, passed him in the hall."

Sheridan, looking pleased: "Then he's still alive."

Interrogator: "Mmhmm. Alive, and well."

Sheridan: "Why are you telling me this?"

Interrogator: "Why not? I told you I have no vested interest in helping you or harming you as long as the job gets done. He made a request, it didn't go against my orders, so I passed it along. 'Thank you' would be the appropriate response."

Sheridan, after a pause: "Thank you."
6. The interrogator muses that Sheridan has been interrogated before. "Anyone I know?" He asks. Sheridan responds how?

Answer: "You'd be surprised."

This is an allusion to his and Delenn's encounter with Mr. Sebastian/Jack the Ripper in "Comes the Inquisitor."

In a twist of cruel irony, Sheridan now finds himself facing many of the things Sebastian suggested he may have to face - if he dies under the interrogation, he will do so alone and unremarked, in the dark, where no one will ever know or see - and his friends will never know for certain what has happened to him.
7. The interrogator tells Sheridan that the truth is, yes, the captain will be killed after he endorses his confession.

Answer: True

Interrogator: "They don't want you dead. They want you as a symbol, not a martyr. As a warning to others."

Sheridan: "Then you'll kill me."

Interrogator: "No. Absolutely n-- I told you I won't lie to you. Oh, they'll come for you. Eventually. But they'll wait. Until you have been forgotten, until your fate no longer means anything to anyone. They'll come in the night, it will be very quick, but until that time, you will have your freedom. If anything, they'll encourage you to travel, so that more people can see you as a symbol of the pre-eminent truth of our time: that you cannot fight the system."
8. What race is the individual who is brought in to be Sheridan's "alibi" and provide a recorded confession stating that Sheridan was under the influence of aliens when he committed the crimes of which he is accused?

Answer: Drazi

Played by Wayne Alexander, no less - the same actor who played Sebastian in "Comes the Inquisitor." JMS thought we would appreciate the symmetry.
9. What does NOT happen in this episode?

Answer: Sheridan hallucinates a conversation with Dr. Franklin onboard Babylon 5

This happens at the top of the next episode, "Between the Darkness and the Light."
10. The episode ends with Sheridan again in a cell, but with a different interrogator. Who is in the room with the new interrogator and Sheridan when he begins his questioning?

Answer: A Drazi

More specifically, the same Drazi whom Sheridan convinced not to endorse a confession a couple of acts earlier, whom Sheridan had presumed he had helped to turn against his captors... rendering Sheridan's only real victory hollow.

A woman is present in the cell with the male interrogator at the start of the next episode, "Between the Darkness and the Light." Garibaldi only comes into the cell to aid in the rescue, well into the next episode. Sheridan hallucinates Delenn's presence several times, and it seems to give him strength, but she is never actually there.
