Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Into the Fire" starts with Commander Ivanova and Lorien searching for First Ones. During their conversation Lorien says, "he's making a crucible, which he hopes will force out the truth". Who is Lorien talking about?

Answer: Captain Sheridan

Lorien is referring to the fleet that Sheridan has assembled to confront both the Shadows and the Vorlons. Together with the remaining First Ones, Sheridan hopes to force the Shadows and Vorlons to confront each other instead of destroying one another's bases.

Ivanova is particularly impatient since while searching for First Ones she is separated from the rest of the fleet and would potentially miss the final battle. Lorien attempts to calm and reassure leading Ivanova to reveal, "my heart and I don't speak anymore".
2. With Vorlon fleets heading to both Coriana VI and Centauri Prime, Captain Sheridan has decided to make his stand at the Coriana system. How many ships has he managed to assemble?

Answer: over 1000

The Vorlon fleets are destroying entire worlds where the Shadows have had influence. Coriana VI is a world that undoubtedly knew very little of this influence as they are not technologically advanced. The Centauri have been influenced by Shadows to a great extent with Londo, Refa and then Cartagia having alliances with them. The latter eventually agreeing to house Shadow ships on Centauri Prime.

Sheridan has decided to make his stand at Coriana VI because of the population of that planet. Marcus describes the situation to Lyta,
"Six billion lives on Coriana, three billion lives on Centauri Prime. We have enough ships to make a stand at one of them, so which one do you choose? It's numbers, cold unsympathetic numbers".
3. Londo finds out that Lord Refa did not poison his lover, Adira. Who is it that actually commissioned the murder?

Answer: Mr. Morden

Londo is distraught on discovering the news that it was in fact Morden that arranged the murder of his one time lover, Adira Tyree. It is Lord Durano that delivers the news from the ministry of intelligence and after receiving the news Londo smashes things in his room and shouts, "he played me! He played me like a puppet!"

Adira was murdered during the events of the season three episode 'Interludes and Examinations'. After which Londo presumed that Lord Refa was behind the murder and, bent on revenge, turned back to Morden for assistance. Thus explaining the quote, "he played me".
4. Commander Ivanova is heading to the rendezvous with the fleet at maximum speed and in her impatience utters, "ah hell!". What does this mean in the language of the Minbari speaking crew?

Answer: Continuous fire

White Star crews do not speak English but only their native Minbari tongue. At this point in the series Ivanova does not know how to say very much in Minbari and so accidentally tells them to continuously fire. When Ivanova is confused as to why the crew are firing weapons Lorien explains that 'ahel' is in fact the instruction they were following.

It is not the first time Ivanova has been stumped by the Minbari language. In the season three episode 'Shadow Dancing' Marcus tells her that she is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen but she does not understand until she finally learns to speak Minbari later in season four.
5. Emperor Cartagia had allowed the Shadows to house some of their ships on the island of Celini in return for his being granted godhood. How does Londo manage to persuade them to leave before the Vorlon fleet arrives to destroy Centauri Prime?

Answer: He destroys the whole island

Londo arranges for an evacuation overnight, but some remain to give the illusion that nothing has happened. He then rigs explosives all over the island so that the Shadow ships can be destroyed while they are not a threat. A fact he points out to Morden after summoning him and killing the Shadows that accompany him.

"You're right, they're on the ground, but they can sense an approaching ship miles away. So what are you gonna do Mollari? Blow up the island?"
"Actually... Now that you mention it."
6. Who is Captain Sheridan talking to when he says, "morning gentlemen, this is your wake up call"?

Answer: Vorlons and Shadows

Captain John Sheridan lives up to his reputation for using nuclear weapons in this episode.

When the Vorlon and Shadow fleets arrive they ignore the fleet that Sheridan has assembled. Sheridan predicted this, so with the above quote he gets their attention explosively by detonating nuclear weapons that he has hidden on nearby asteroids. These are presumably some of the same nuclear weapons that G'Kar had provided toward the end of season three.

Sheridan has history when it comes to using nuclear weapons. During the Earth-Minbari war he mined an asteroid field using a couple of nuclear weapons to destroy the Minbari flagship, the Black Star. He also took a nuke with him to Z'Ha'Dum at the end of season three so that he could aim his White Star at the planet to destroy the home of the Shadows.
7. As revenge for the murder of his lover, Adira, Londo has Mr. Morden killed and his head put on a pike outside the royal palace. How does Vir react on seeing Morden's head?

Answer: He waves at Morden's head

As he said he would in the season two episode, "In the Shadow of Z'Ha'Dum", Vir waves at the head of Morden.

"I'd like to live long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favours come with too high a price. I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave - like this."
8. Londo eliminates everything on Centauri Prime that has been touched by the Shadows and then sends a message to the Vorlons to tell them. Vir points out that Londo himself has been touched by the Shadows, what is Londo's reaction to this?

Answer: Londo asks Vir to kill him and then tell the Vorlons

"You must kill me Vir, quickly."

Fortunately for Vir and Londo the Vorlon fleet is called away as the battle goes badly at Coriana VI.
9. The Vorlons and Shadows decide that by killing everyone aboard Captain Sheridan's ship they will prevent everyone else from finding out the truth. What type of ship takes the first missile meant to destroy Sheridan's White Star?

Answer: Drazi

Lorien broadcasted the conversations aboard the White Star to everyone on the other ships in Sheridan's fleet. So they knew that the Vorlons and Shadows intended to simply kill the people that had found out the truth. In order to prevent this various ships put themselves in the way of the missiles heading toward Sheridan's White Star.
10. The quote, "Now get the hell out of our galaxy!", was spoken by which character?

Answer: Captain Sheridan

At the climax of this episode Sheridan and Delenn, with Lorien's assistance, manage to persuade the Vorlons and the Shadows to leave the galaxy and go beyond the rim. Lorien says that he will go too, along with the remaining First Ones.
