Alien: "Ah! So, if one is a prisoner of love, one must escape to solitude? If one is a prisoner to joy, must one escape to sadness? I see you're still upset that I won't tell you my name. Well, what does it matter? If I tell you my name is Lorien, what good is that? It tells you nothing, but leaves me at a disadvantage. Words have meaning. And names have power. The universe began with a word, you know. But which came first? The word, or the thought behind the word? You can't create language without thought, and you can't conceive a thought without language. So, which created the other, and thus, created the universe? ... No. I see you're far too wrapped up in your question to consider the larger issues."

Lorien tells Sheridan that he is 'in between' life and death.

Sheridan: "Between what?"

Lorien: "Between moments. When we are born, we are allocated a finite number of seconds. Each tick of the clock slices off a piece of us. Tick! A possibility for joy is gone. Tock! A careless word ends one path, opens another. Tick, tock, tick tock, always running out of time! Yours is almost used up. You're between seconds, lost in the infinite possibilities between tick and tock. Tick, you're alive. Tock... Well, it was a good life, but a short one. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick..."

Later...

Lorien: "You're closer now, aren't you? Yes, I see you are. But closer to tick or closer to tock? I don't know. Only time will tell. And here, between the moments, we have all the time in the world."

At Lennier's request, Dr. Franklin goes to Delenn's quarters to check on her condition.

Delenn: "Sorry for not answering at once. I was meditating. Is there a problem?"

Franklin: "Well, you tell me. I hear you haven't had anything to eat or drink in almost seven days."

Delenn: "Minbari can fast as long as two weeks."

Franklin: "A normal Minbari, yes. But you're partly human now. Your system can't handle the stress you're putting on it. If you don't stop, you're going to hurt yourself. Look, I know this is how your people deal with grief, all right? You fast. You purify yourselves physically, spiritually. But nothing is going to be served by endangering your own life."

Answer: G'Kar

G'Kar goes looking for Garibaldi. Marcus follows him guessing that he might need some help.

Marcus: "I heard you were looking for Mr. Garibaldi on the assumption he was in trouble. So I went looking for you on the assumption you'd probably get into trouble."

G'Kar: "I was doing fine, until you showed up with that thing in hand."

Marcus: "It's a Minbari fighting pike, several hundred years old. You're just jealous because you don't have one. Bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me. So you think you have a lead on Mr. Garibaldi?"

G'Kar: "If that was his Starfury they found, then he may have escaped or been intercepted."

Answer: G'Kar in chains

Cartagia: "Well said. I like you. I like you a great deal. Did you know that? I feel we have so much in common. Which is why I've secured you a gift."

Londo: "A gift?"

Cartagia: "A gift! I wanted you to see it as soon as it arrived."

Londo: "But it is unnecessary for you to..."

Cartagia: "Nonsense. No one turns down one of my gifts. Besides, I know you'll like this one. It's something you've wanted for a long, long time. Would you like to see your gift now?"

Londo: "Yes, Majesty."

Cartagia: "Good. [Centauri guards escort G'Kar into the room] There he is, the last of the Kha'Ri. I know he's been a great burden to you. But now he's here for our amusement. And, well, when he ceases to be amusing... Oh, Mollari, have you nothing to say?"

Londo: "Yes, Majesty. Thank you. Thank you for this...gift."

Answer: Yes, but he tells his interrogator that he doesn't remember.

Voice: "We want to know what you remember after being taken from Babylon 5."

Garibaldi: "I told you, I don't remember anything!"

Voice: "Your vital signs indicate you're being somewhat less than honest. You're just trying to avoid discomfort by telling us what you think we want to hear."

Garibaldi: "Why would I do that, huh? Maybe because you got me stuck in this tomb? I don't know where the hell I'm at? Maybe figuring out what you want is the only way out? Well, silly me!"

Voice: "Don't think, Mr. Garibaldi. Don't think, Mr. Garibaldi. Just tell us the truth."

Garibaldi: "Aw, gimme a break!"

Voice: "What happened after you left Babylon 5?"

Garibaldi: "I told you I don't remember!"

Voice: "What happened after..."

Garibaldi: "I said I don't remember!"

Answer: monster

Londo: "There is a monster on the throne, G'Kar. A well-protected monster. He must be removed. And you may be the means I have been waiting for. I believe I can save your life, but it will not be easy. And you will suffer greatly before this is over. I cannot help that. I wish I could. I have no desire to see you suffer. But I must watch. And you must endure until the time is right! And then I will act. And you will help me. Yes?"

G'Kar: "You didn't ask the price for my cooperation."

Londo: "You are not exactly in a position to bargain, G'Kar."

G'Kar: "Neither are you. You want my help for the sake of your people. I will give it for the sake of my own. If I remove the monster from your throne, you will remove the monster from my world! Leave Narn! Set my world free! Promise me this, and I will do as you ask."

Londo: "You have my word."

Answer: Kosh

Lyta has often carried a piece of Kosh inside of her. She sensed the piece of Kosh inside of Sheridan in the episode "Walkabout" while first attempting to telepathically block the Shadow ships.

Lorien: "We all have secrets, surprises. Did you know you have a Vorlon inside you? Well, a piece of one."

Sheridan: "Kosh."

Lorien: "Is that its name? I think I met it once, long ago."

Sheridan: "He told me to jump. Did he know?"

Lorien: "That I was here? Almost certainly."

Sheridan: "How did..."

Lorien: "They can break off pieces of their consciousness and put it into other organisms. It allows them to travel hidden through the galaxy, using others as their eyes and ears. Kosh is in you. And he's part of the problem. You're the other part. You're both still clinging to life. Both afraid to let go. You must lay down the burden of life, both of you, and surrender yourself to tock."

Answer: dying living

Lorien: "You must let go. Surrender yourself to death. The death of flesh. The death of fear. Step into the abyss, and let go."

Sheridan: "It's getting darker."

Lorien: "I know. You're close, friend. Very close. It's easy to find something worth dying for. Do you have anything worth living for?"

Sheridan: "I can't see you anymore."

Lorien: "As it should be."

Sheridan: "What if I fall? How will I know if you'll catch me?"

Lorien: "I caught you before."

Sheridan: "What if I die?"

Lorien: "I cannot create life, but I can breathe on the remaining embers. It may not work."

Sheridan: "But I can hope."

Lorien: "Hope is all we have."

Answer: "Delenn."

Sheridan jumps from the balcony, and discovers the answer to Lorien's question. The one thing that is worth living for is Delenn. Sheridan flashes back to his and Delenn's first night together with Delenn watching him sleep in "Messages from Earth". She tells him: "Sleep now. I will watch and catch you if you should fall." As Sheridan falls he screams out Delenn's name.
