In the opening scene, a man was out walking his dog when he heard the dog start to bark. He went over to see what the problem was. Once he got to the scene, he noticed a dead woman in the water.

Hayley spoke to Castle about the fact that he was not being upfront with Alexis and Martha on his relationship with Kate. She spoke specifically about how Kate received a mysterious text and that he wanted her to hack into her cell phone.

Kate, Javier and Kevin went to the morgue to find out more about the murder victim. Sidney Perlmutter (the medical examiner) stated that they did not have an identity for her and they saw that she wore a flapper looking dress. On the dress was a tag that said Iconic Cruise Lines, which was a well-known cruise line.

At the morgue, Perlmutter pulled out an object from the victim's throat and they were surprised to see that it was an eight ball. The team suspected that the victim, who was identified as Lara Madden, was going to blow the whistle on an illegal operation.

The team went to one of the cruises to inquire with staff to see if they could learn more about Lara Madden. Kate rolled her eyes when she saw Castle get on a ledge and yell out, "I'm the king of the world", imitating Leonardo DiCaprio from "Titanic". Just then, the ship horn rang off to indicate that it would be taking off.

During the opening credits, Kate demanded that the captain get the cruise ship back to the dock since they were investigating a murder. The captain said he could not since the company was near bankruptcy and they felt that taking a boat on a cruise would avoid bad press. Kate threatened to arrest the captain for obstruction of justice.

Castle and Kate spoke to someone on the cruise ship and he mentioned that he dealt heroin. They later discovered footage where Lara came upon shipments of heroin that were on the ship. On the footage, Lara stated that she could not trust anyone. Castle and Kate wondered if the killer saw Lara and killed her to keep her silent.

Answer: Public Defender

One suspect in Lara's murder was Salvador Acosta since he was on the video Castle and Kate saw. Caleb Brown was his Public Defender and he told Kate that Acosta was ready to plead guilty to second degree murder in exchange for a reduced sentence. Kate said she would need something from him to find that doable. Brown said they could not provide anything so it looked like he would not get a reduced sentence.

Castle started to wonder if the drug shipments on the cruise ship were somehow linked to Allison Hyde's murder. He asked Hayley if she could hack through Vikram's firewall since he assumed that Kate got in touch with Vikram shortly after Allison's murder. Hayley agreed to see if she could get through the firewall.

Answer: Panama

Later in the episode, Kate and Vikram held someone at gunpoint since he was someone who dropped off shipments of heroin. The gentleman, Sam, stated that the drugs came in from Panama and other places. Kate told him that, if he was asked to drop off other shipments, he was to call her.
