Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Area of Alpha Quadrant that Voyager entered to track down Chakotay's ship.

Answer: badlands

Voyager was designed so it would be easier to travel in the badlands, unlike the other Starfleet ships of the time. However, the Caretaker's array grabbed Voyager from the Badlands and took them to the Delta Quadrant, where they had to unit with Chakotay and his crew in order to survive.
2. Name of the Doctor's holographic daughter.

Answer: Belle

Belle was seen in "Real Life" where the Doctor created a family on the holodeck. However, after B'Elanna decided to make his 'perfect' family act like a real family, Belle became injured during a Parises Squares game. Although the Doctor tried to save her, Belle ultimately died.

Beatrice was the name of the young girl in one of Janeway's gothic holonovels.
3. Man who gave Janeway roses for her quarters while she attended the academy.

Answer: Boothby

When Voyager encountered Species 8472's recreation of Starfleet headquarters, Janeway asked Boothby if her favourite place (The Night Owl) had been created as well. Sadly, 8472 hadn't made a complete recreation.
4. Holodeck program Harry was running when he 'disappeared', leading to the Doctor's first 'away mission'.

Answer: Beowulf

Harry had been running the program and played the part of the hero. However, some alien anomaly encountered the ship and the holodeck program went a little screwy (like it always does). After one attempt failed, the Doctor was eventually sent into the holodeck (the first time he left sickbay) where he fell in love with the heroine of the program.

When she died, the Doctor refused to be called by the name he had decided upon as it was too painful for him to hear.
5. B'Elanna's name in the WWII simulation in "The Killing Game."

Answer: Brigitte

Brigitte had had an affair with Tom Paris' character and after the war began, she became pregnant with a German officer's child. Behind the scenes fact: When this episode was filmed, Roxanne Dawson was pregnant and they made her holographic character pregnant as well as a way to incorporate that into the show (and then they didn't have to worry about keeping her behind things all the time).
6. What type of instrument was the Caretaker playing when Chakotay, Janeway and others went to the array for the second time?

Answer: banjo

He was sitting on the porch, alone, plucking at the banjo.
7. Title of episode where the Kazon took over Voyager and stranded the crew on a planet without any technology.

Answer: Basics

Lucky for Voyager's crew, a Betazoid and the Doctor were left onboard and eventually re-took the ship. This episode marks the death of Seska, and the acceptance by Cullah of her son as his own.

One of the best scenes of this episode is where Chakotay is trying to make a fire. He says that Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant with the only Indian who couldn't make fire. Eventually, Janeway had to donate some of her hair for them to get a fire started.
8. First name of the chief engineer.

Answer: B'Elanna

B'Elanna eventually married Tom Paris and gave birth to a daughter, Miral.

During "Coda," Janeway wondered if Tom and B'Elanna would ever learn to work together - which it appeared they did. B'Elanna had a lot of trouble reconciling her Klingon and Human sides - she had been teased as a child by non-Klingons because of the ridges on her forehead.
9. Seven was once a part of this 'collective'.

Answer: borg

Seven had been assimilated at an early age and when she was disconnected from the Collective, it was very difficult for her to get used to being human again. But Janeway didn't give up ad eventually Seven became more human - enough so to begin a romantic relationship with Chakotay towards the nd of the seventh season.
10. Quadrant that Tuvok had been in during the events surrounding "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country."

Answer: beta

During "Flashback," we find that Tuvok had been a junior office aboard the Excelsior with Captain Sulu. The Excelsior was in the Beta Quadrant saving the Federation from gaseous anomalies. Janeway hadn't known that Tuvok had been in Starfleet so long ago - towards the end of the episode we find out that this is because he leaves Starfleet after the events in "Star Trek VI."
11. Torres had a grandmother who made this food for the Chief Engineer.

Answer: banana pancakes

While trying to remember her life during "Workforce," Neelix makes B'Elanna some banana pancakes as they are her favourite food.
12. Ship that Janeway and Tuvok served together aboard before Voyager.

Answer: Billings

"Night" Tuvok, while answering a question posed by Chakotay, reveals that Janeway had led an away team where three crewmen were injured. Being as stubborn and not wanting to let the crew thinking their suffering had been for nothing, she went back and completed the dangerous mission - alone.
13. Name for ship that Species 8472 used.

Answer: bioship

The ships were extremely resistant to Borg assimilation techniques. And because the Borg couldn't assimilate the bioships or Species 8472, they were unable to figure out a way to create a weapon against then.
14. What did Janeway use to get the 'scientists' off her ship in "Scientific Method"?

Answer: binary pulsar

She played chicken with the scientists. If they wouldn't leave her crew alone, she would fly the ship through the pulsar, destroying the ship. However, once the scientists did leave, it was too late for her to steer Voyager away from the binary pulsar and the ship had to go in between them.
15. Title of Neelix's show that the Doctor wanted to be on.

Answer: "Briefing with Neelix"

Ensign Wildman was quite a fan of his show. On one episode, the Doctor was scheduled to talk about a medical subject and Neelix ended up 'bumping' him because of time constraints. The Doctor, of course, got annoyed and asked for twice the amount of time for the next show. Unfortunately for the Doctor (and fortunately for Voyager), he was bumped again as Neelix tried to investigate the reason why Tom Paris left the ship.
16. Janeway played Queen Arachnia of the Spider People on the holodeck. By what other name can this character be called?

Answer: Bride of Chaotica

In the episode "Bride of Chaotica!," Janeway has to go into the holodeck in order to help some aliens to stop attacking the holodeck. Paris convinces her to don the Arachnia costume and go into Dr. Chaotica's lair. While in the lair, Chaotica decides to marry Queen Arachnia in order to consolidate their empires.
17. Captain that was stranded in 1967 on Earth after attempting to destroy Voyager.

Answer: Braxton

Captain Braxton, who was originally from the 29th century, decided to go back in time and destroy Voyager because he believed the ship would be responsible for the destruction of Earth's solar system. However, Voyager ended up sending Braxton to 1967.
18. "Non Sequitur" What is the last name of Harry's friend who was assigned to Voyager?

Answer: Byrd

When Harry woke up in San Francisco, he found out that his friend Daniel Byrd had been assigned to Voyager in his place. Although back in the Alpha Quadrant with his girlfriend, he felt it was not fair that his friend Daniel was in the Delta Quadrant. Harry set about trying to find a way back to his own timeline, with the help of a Tom Paris who spent all his time in Marseilles playing pool.
19. A red alert means big trouble a head while yellow alert means possible big trouble. What colour is the alert to tell people the ship is going to land?

Answer: blue

In the first episode where the ship is landed, Janeway orders Paris to begin preparations to land the ship. He replies that she should know that he's never landed a starship before. Janeway replies with "Neither have I." She sure does know how to make people feel safe, doesn't she? ;)
20. Unlike a 'normal' starship, when it was built some of the circuity on Voyager was replaced with what?

Answer: Bio-neural

In one episode, Neelix had been making cheese in sickbay which ended up infecting some of the bio-neural gel packs. One of the oddest lines in "Star Trek" history was uttered by Torres as she said "Get the cheese to sickbay!" In order to stop the infection in the ship's systems, the Doctor suggested inducing a 'fever' in the ship as a way to kill the infection.
