When Voyager found them, the 37s were awakened and decided to stay on the colony instead of returning to Earth with Voyager.

Voyager was sent back to Earth's past in order to find a timeship that had been trying to destroy Voyager. So the computer age was never supposed to have happened after all!

Geordi LaForge had, in this timeline anyway, been promoted and was now captain of his own ship! Chakotay and Kim, along with Chakotay's girlfriend, were trying to send a message back in time to Seven's implant that would give Voyager the coordinates to fall out of the slipstream, thus averting the ship's crash into an ice planet where everyone died.

Both Janeway and Chakotay decided to 'ask' Tuvok to teach these misfits, as he had been an instructor at Starfleet Academy in the past.

Lucid dreaming is a technique that Chakotay picked up where the dreamer takes control of his dream. As the crew was falling asleep into dreams they didn't know weren't real, Chakotay was able to keep trying to wake himself in order to get to the real root of the problem and thus save the ship.
