Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This woman disappeared from Earth in 1937. Voyager found her in 2371 - in the Delta Quadrant.

Answer: Earhart

Amelia Earhart disappeared with her navigator, Fred Noonan. Because no wreckage was ever found, it became one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century. One day, while roaming the Delta Quadrant, Voyager happened upon a truck - from 1930s Earth. They beamed it aboard and followed an old distress signal to a planet where they found several people in cryostasis.

It turns out that the Briori abducted people from 1937 Earth and brought them to the Delta Quadrant. The Briori then used the humans' DNA and created their children - who flourished on the planet. Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan were two of the people Voyager discovered.
2. The Emergency Medical Hologram is also known as the EMH. What 'program' was the doctor running (for the most part) during "Workforce" when he was the only being aboard the ship?

Answer: ECH

The ECH is the Emergency Command Hologram. The Doctor had the idea that, when needed, the ECH could take command of the ship and would have all the command codes transferred to him. When the crew abandoned ship in "Workforce," one of the last things Janeway did was activate the ECH.
3. Name of ship Tuvok served on during the flashbacks in "Flashback."

Answer: Excelsior

Tuvok served aboard this ship during the events surround "Star Trek VI." We find out that because Tuvok, a 'green' officer, made a bad decision and questioned Captain Sulu's order, he decides to leave Starfleet. Also in "Flashback," when his friend Dmitri died, he inadvertently passed on an alien lifeform which would live in Tuvok as a dormant memory engram.
4. B'Elanna and Joe Carey were the top contenders to be Chief of this department of the ship.

Answer: Engineering

Although Janeway was reluctant to consider B'Elanna, Chakotay went to bat for her and convinced Janeway to allow B'Elanna to sit in on a staff meeting. Janeway was so impressed with B'Elanna's unconventional thinking that she named B'Elanna Chief Engineer.
5. This 'time of life' for an Ocampan woman normally happens between the ages of 4 and 5. For Kes, it happened much sooner.

Answer: Elogium

Kes's elogium occurred when the ship was exposed to a swarm of alien beings in "Elogium." Kes then had to decide whether or not to have a child as the elogium only happens once in a lifetime. Kes was about to mate with Neelix when the Doctor determined her elogium was artificially produced and her body went back to normal.
6. Harry's composition that he plays in "Night."

Answer: Echoes of the Void

Harry, while in command of the bridge, was sitting in the captain's chair playing his clarinet. There wasn't much to do as they were in the middle of a starless void, so I guess protocol was relaxed. (Or maybe just because the captain had locked herself in her quarters that everyone felt like they could do whatever they wanted.)
7. These small vessels are intended to be used only when the order to abandon ship is given.

Answer: escape pod

The crew used them to abandon ship in "Year of Hell" while the senior staff attempted to save Voyager. In "Haunting of Deck Twelve," the rest of the crew abandons ship, but the alien won't let Janeway leave.
8. Episode where the Delta Flyer is first built.

Answer: Extreme Risk

The other plotline in this episode is where B'Elanna is depressed because she had learned that many of the Maquis who were left in the Alpha Quadrant had died. Because of her depression, she started to take chances with her life - like running an orbital skydiving holoprogram with the safeties off.
9. "Scorpion" While going through data trying to find out more about the Borg, Janeway quotes Captain Amasov of this vessel while talking with Chakotay.

Answer: Endeavor

She also quoted Picard. Chakotay decided that when she quoted the two captains, she was doing very good impressions of them.
10. Name of the other Federation ship that Voyager encountered. Janeway became obsessed with trying to find this ship and hunt down its captain.

Answer: Equinox

From the episode of the same name. The Equinox was pulled into the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker, just as Voyager had. But smaller and with fewer people, the Equinox had a terrible time surviving in the unknown space. Captain Ransom and his crew found a way to take alien beings and kill them for fuel for the ship.

This 'fuel' enhanced their warp drive, allowing them to go long distances faster than even Voyager could. When Voyager encountered the Equinox, Ransom's ship was badly damaged and Voyager's crew offered to help.

But once Janeway found out about the slaughter of the innocent aliens, the hunt was on for Ransom, who had escaped with his ship and crew (oh, and Voyager's Doctor and Seven). Janeway became so obsessed that she relieved Chakotay of his duties and threatened to do the same to Tuvok, as well as almost killing an Equinox crewmember while trying to find Ransom.

As you can probably tell, this is one of my favourite episodes (and the novelization of it is pretty good as well).
