Mary saw Abby on a ladder on the stairs working on one of the lights. Mary joked that it was nice to have a man in the house. Abby told Mary that she had made a deal with Tom: He would make dinner and she would deal with the light. Mary replied that in that case, she was going to eat out. Abby thought Mary shouldn't miss Chili Con Bradford. Mary replied that she'd already had it and would be eating out.

Dr. Maxwell was concerned that Abby had a concussion, so he advised Tom that Abby should stay awake until morning to prevent her from slipping into a coma. Dr. Maxwell mentioned he'd be at St. Mary's hospital until 8PM and then would be at home. He did come by around 3AM to check on Abby.

Tommy worked out the schedule: each person would keep her awake in reverse order of bedtimes, which meant Nicholas was first.

Nicholas told the story of when all his brothers and sisters had been arrested and he felt left out. Nicholas then decided to steal a cat, and reported himself as a cat burglar at the police station. The policeman saw how much Nicholas wanted to be arrested, so he handcuffed Nicholas, took his photograph, and fingerprinted him. (This was from the episode "Mortgage Burnin' Blues.")

Nicholas also told the story of when Tom wanted to spend more time with Nicholas and tried teaching him to swim and flying a kite. (This is from the episode "Triangles.")

Nicholas got his tonsils out in the series premiere, "Never Try Eating Nectarines Since Juice May Dispense."

Nicholas met a man who claimed to be Santa Claus (and ended up being a thief) in "Yes Nicholas, There is a Santa Claus."

Tommy told Abby that making the schedule for who would keep her awake first was his brilliant idea. He then went on to say that not all of his ideas were as brilliant, like the time he tried running a garage sale with Mary and Elizabeth. (You can see this entire episode in the episode "Triangles.")

Elizabeth talked about the time she ended up with three dates for prom. (This is in the episode "Hit and Run.") Abby also mentions a time when Elizabeth didn't really like her, referring to the episode "Children of the Groom."

Tom mentioned the time when Elizabeth asked him to go on birth control ("Dear Ms. Dinah").

Abby told Nancy the story of when she was trying to come up with a talent for the beauty pageant. She'd tried baton twirling, but failed at that. Abby then gave Nancy an idea for a talent: putting her hair up in curlers. Nancy related that although she didn't win (she was the fifth finalist), she did have great hair. (This happened in the episode "Double Trouble". Nancy attempted to become a model in the episode "Pieces of Eight".)

Nancy claimed she wasn't good around sick people because she kept imagining having what the sick person had. Abby replied that in that case, Nancy must have a big headache.

Susan and Joanie both dated David's boyfriend in the episode "Triangles."

Susan also talked about the time Aunt Vivian got her to go sky diving. (This was in the episode "V is for Vivian.")

Joanie apparently had also told Abby the story about dating David's roommate at the same time as Susan as Susan's story fades into Joanie telling Abby about it. She also talks about doing the nude scene that Tom, Abby, and Abby's father-in-law saw (from the episode "The Bard and the Bod"). She told Abby she'd never realized that her actions directly affected the entire family and told Abby about what she had gone through trying to keep Tom from finding out about the nude scene.

Joanie works at a TV station in future seasons, at one point becoming the sportscaster.

Joanie directed a talent show in the episode "Who's on First," which occurs after this episode.

Joanie and the rest of the Bradfords (well, except for David) go to San Francisco in the episode "I Quit."

Dr. Maxwell visited and after examining Abby, told Tom that he saw no change. When Tom got even more worried, Dr. Maxwell told Tom that she should be better by the morning, which was a few hours away.

While examining Abby, Dr. Maxwell claimed that he brought Tom and Abby together. When Abby replied that she didn't even meet Dr. Maxwell until she'd been dating Tom for a while, Dr. Maxwell said he was the one who put Tom in the marrying frame of mind.

He then recounted the time when he and Daisy had separated and he kept taking Tom out on double dates, to places like the disco and to an apartment belonging to someone his mechanic's brother-in-law knew.

David told Abby about how he could never find the right girl. He told stories of dating girls like Noreen (from "Yes Nicholas, There is a Santa Claus") and going to the laundromat pretending not to know how to do laundry. In the end, he and Tommy didn't pick up a girl because an old woman helped them out. David told Abby that it was weeks of dirty laundry before he could bear going into a laundromat again.

When Dr. Maxwell was examining Abby, he asked if she had a myriad of symptoms. She said the only problem she had was a headache.

When it was finally Tom's turn, Abby mentioned he had some good kids. Tom then told Abby that the children were hand-picked, like their step-mother. They then talked about how neither of them would have guessed they would have gotten together - especially how it was a broken leg (Tommy's) that brought them together. Several clips were shown, including a clip where Abby wants to go to a marimba lounge and Tom doesn't because the place gives him a headache. Abby complains that they always went where Tom wanted to go. Tom gives in, but only if he can drive (Abby's car). Abby tells Tom he's not driving her car - not after last time and not before he has at least one more lesson. (This may refer to when Tom first drove her car - he ended up starting out in third as he was confused by the British car.)

A scene where Tom gets upset because Nancy put a deposit on a 10 piece orchestra that played 19 instruments for the wedding was also played. Tom told Nancy to cancel the orchestra, despite the fact that it would mean Nancy losing all her money in the deposit. Abby told Tom that it was fine, but he claimed it wasn't fine - and maybe they should just cancel the wedding and elope. After he said that, Abby said maybe they should just not get married. Next was shown where Tom and Abby exchanged vows, lit a unity candle, and were embraced by all the Bradford children. (This is from the episode "Children of the Groom.")
