Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did Joanie say should do the laundry?

Answer: Mary

Joan had asked Susan and Joanie to make sure to take out something for dinner and to do the laundry. Susan said she would handle dinner, but Joanie said she couldn't do laundry. Luckily, Mary came into the foyer at just that time, so Joanie told Mary that Mary was on laundry duty.
2. What was Tom trying to convince Nicholas to drink less of?

Answer: milk

Nicholas was pouring a huge glass of milk for himself. Money was tight at the Bradford household, so Tom asked Nicholas if he wouldn't mind drinking water instead of milk. Nicholas replied that it was hard to wash down a lot of peanut butter with water.
3. Why did David claim he brought his dirty laundry back home?

Answer: it made Joan feel needed

David came home one morning with his dirty laundry. David used the excuse that he only brought it home to make Joan feel needed. Later on, David would complain that only Joan was able to correctly wash his clothes.
4. What did Tom claim wasn't helping him with writing his editorial?

Answer: quiet

Tom complained to David that with the editor away, Tom had to not only write his own columns, but the editorials as well. The problem was, with the house so quiet, he didn't have anything to editorialize about.
5. What did Susan refuse to allow Tom to have in his coffee?

Answer: sugar

Tom asked for sugar for his coffee, but Susan claimed it was bad for his health. She had been studying several diets and the one she liked the best said that large quantities of anything was bad for a person - and that included large quantities of sugar.

Tom was not amused.
6. What did Nicholas spill on the table at breakfast?

Answer: milk

Nicholas was trying to be helpful and pour some milk for Tom, but the cup overflowed - all onto Tom's editorial.
7. What did Tom suggest as the topic for his editorial after Nicholas spilled at breakfast?

Answer: zero population growth

Soon after Tom commented on there being too much quiet, the family got up and gathered for breakfast. There was even an extra person at the table: Julian, Nicholas's classmate.
8. When David claimed he was a wonderful human being, who did he say he took after?

Answer: Joan

Tom told David that he would be working late. David offered to help Tom out, if need be. When Tom replied that David's offer was very nice, David said "I know, I'm a wonderful human being. I take after mom."
9. Who locked himself/herself in the bathroom?

Answer: Elizabeth

Joanie called Elizabeth a baby, so Elizabeth locked herself in the bathroom. This meant all the kids started coming into Tom and Joan's bathroom. When Joanie told her parents what had happened and that she wouldn't apologise due to her principles, Joan told Joanie that principles came second to bathroom privileges.
10. How much did Nancy claim professional photos would cost?

Answer: $200

When Tom and Joan heard that it would cost that much, Tom asked Joan to explain to Nancy that they didn't have $200. Joan offered to take Nancy's photos instead, saying that Nancy had always claimed Joan had a good eye.
