Bobby called Gary and Val to tell them that Lucy found out they had remarried. Gary and Val didn't want to tell Lucy and bring her out to California until they were sure their marriage would work. Lucy and Val are looking at Lucy's purchases. Gary looks at a price tag on a blouse and comments that it costs more than he makes in a week. After Gary finds out that Lucy used her credit cards, he tells her that they should be practicing living on his earnings, not on her grandpa's money. Lucy asks Gary if he's going to try to teach her things that he should have been teaching her when she was three and four years old.

Lucy was interested in going to Marineland with everyone until Gary started fussing with her about the credit cards. Gary doesn't feel close to Lucy, especially the way Lucy keeps excluding him from her and Val's relationship. For instance, Lucy tells Val she can come with her to Kenny's party, not that Val and Gary can come along.

Lucy leaves Kenny's party with the members of a group called Cosmic Steeple, to go to another party. Gary and Val go across the street looking for Lucy at the party, and become worried when they find out she left with some guys. She arrives home in a limousine the next morning.

After Lucy arrives home from the party, she starts packing and tells Val she's going home. Lucy tells Val that no one did anything wrong, it's just too late. She tells Val everything will be better if they were in Dallas and encourages Val to leave Gary and come with her. Lucy says if it'll make Val happy, she can bring Gary too.

When Lucy tearfully tells Val to please come with her because she doesn't ever want to lose her again, Val agrees. Val tries to explain to Gary that she thinks if she lets Lucy get on the plane by herself, it'll be the end of their relationship.

Laura encounters Lucy waiting outside of the Ewing's house, and explains how much she loves Gary and Val's love story. How Lucy brought them together after all of those years and how much they love each other. Lucy begins realizing the great sacrifice she is asking Val to make by leaving Gary and going to Dallas with her. Gary begs Val not to leave him, but she and Lucy drive off for the airport, stopping for a moment at the beach. Meanwhile, Gary talks to Sid who tells him to go after them. Gary finds them at the beach and explains to Lucy how they forgot to get to know each other first before he tried imposing his rules on her.

She agrees to stay the rest of the time and the three of them go running in the surf.
