Episode 3 - "Let Me Count The Ways" Quiz

Eric and Michael complain about the tomato on their plates and start pushing them back and forth between their plates until the tomatoes fall on the floor and Karen gets upset. After Sid gets into the tomato discussion, Karen says she only put them there to give the plate a little color, she didn't mean to start a seminar.

Richard and Laura encounter Karen and Sid as they are leaving in the morning and Richard pressures them until Karen and Sid agree to attend the PTA meeting that night. Richard wants to speak after the PTA meeting so he can complain about David Crane and his teaching methods.

Richard is making David Crane a campaign issue and speaks after the PTA meeting is over. David stands up to defend himself against Richard's accusations and says that the person who shot up in class was a diabetic. He says his teaching methods involve getting the attention of the students. Karen had encountered David in the hallway when she went to phone Sid but didn't know who he was.

When they find out, Laura whispers that he's so cute.

While defending his teaching methods, David says, "My methods are this simple", leans down and kisses Karen on the lips. Sid is sitting right beside her. He and all of the other parents look stunned but it illustrated David's point, it got their attention. David and Karen look at each other and it's obvious the kiss affected both of them. Laura looked a bit envious.

Karen, in her sexy new dress, is waiting in the darkened living room with Pachelbel Canon playing in the background when Sid calls to say he'll be working late. Val comes over because Gary called to say he was working late as well. Val and Karen decide to have dinner together and then go to the school board meeting.

Val tells David how much Karen cares about different causes and Karen mentions how she graduated from college before student activism was popular. Nowadays, she says, the thing she seems most committed to is making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Karen and David begin some banter about peanut butter and Val tries to be in on their conversation but senses that they're attracted to each other.

Karen, Richard and other parents are sitting in on the class. Neither Richard nor the other parents seem to appreciate David's efforts to teach the students, but Karen can see how his methods will be helpful to deter his students from following the same paths which his guest lecturers have taken.

She suggests that instead of taking his class to the planetarium that evening as planned, they should all get together and make posters opposing Richard for the seat on the school board.

What Karen really wants, and needs, from Sid is some love and attention. He brings home a set of pots and pans which he saw demonstrated at the mall, and excitedly shows Karen the nonstick surface by melting some cheese and putting it on a cracker. Then he leaves.

After Sid brings Karen pots and pans, she realizes that he sees her as a wife and mother, but not as a woman. Karen enjoys the attention from David, but explains to him that the way he's made her feel is enough for her. He made her feel like a woman who's still sexy and desirable, something Sid hasn't done lately. Karen thanks David and goes home to Sid. Sid is in the garage working on his car, but Karen makes it clear that he's not going to work on it right now and they walk hand in hand into the house.
