The good people of the town and county of Mayberry, North Carolina can be assured that their welfare and safety is in the hands of their Sheriff and Justice of the Peace, Andy Taylor. He is the man in charge.

Andy Griffith starred as Sheriff Andy Taylor on "The Andy Griffith Show" for eight seasons (1960-1968).
The show proved to be very successful, and never placed outside of the top ten shows, according to the "Nielsen Television Ratings", during its entire run.
2. USS Enterprise, NCC-1701

Answer: James T. Kirk

In "Space: the final frontier", during the 2260s, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) was the commanding officer and in charge on the starship "USS Enterprise".

"Star Trek" was presented on network television for 3 seasons (1968-1969), with 79 episodes. During its run, the series was nominated for 11 Emmy Awards in various categories. Unfortunately, the series never won.

Five spin-off series were generated based on the original series. All but one, "Star Trek: The Animated Series", remained on the air longer than the original series. Spin-off series were "Star Trek: The Animated Series" (1973) with two seasons, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) with seven seasons,
"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) with seven seasons, "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) with seven seasons, and "Star Trek: Enterprise" (2001) with four seasons.
3. Mobile Army Surgical Hospital unit 4077

Answer: Sherman Potter

As of the second episode of season four, Colonel Sherman T. Potter became commanding officer, and the man in charge of the U.S. Army's 4077 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital unit (M*AS*H).

Col. Potter (Harry Morgan) was a "full bird" colonel and "regular" army officer, who had seen action during both World War I and World War II. In the series storyline, Col. Potter assumed command of the 4077 on September 19, 1952, serving as the unit's senior surgeon.

"M*A*S*H" aired for 11 seasons (1972-1983), with 256 episodes. The Colonel Potter character appeared in 188 episodes from seasons 4-11.
4. Emergency Room Operations at Rampart General Hospital

Answer: Kelly Brackett

When a major medical decision had to made in the hospital emergency room, the call went out for the straight talking Dr. Kelly Brackett (Robert Fuller), the department head of emergency medicine.

Brackett was often the doctor intently listening to patient information being transmitted by the field paramedics (usually Squad 51), and then directing them on a course of medical action. His standard medical reply was, "51, start an IV with D5W, TKO, and transport as soon as possible".

"Emergency!" was an action medical series that ran for six seasons (1972-1977), that highlighted both the activities of a busy major hospital emergency room and the paramedics and firemen at the local fire station, who served as first responders to field medical emergency calls.
5. Head of Homicide Detail, San Francisco Police Department

Answer: Leland Stottlemeyer

Captain Leland Stottlemeyer served as the commanding officer. While his team of detectives were competent in performing their investigative duties, Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) was occasionally asked by his superiors to bring in a "consultant" to assist in solving crimes, in the person of ex-detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub).

While sometimes reluctant to use Monk, Stottlemeyer acknowledged that his unusual methods in solving cases was effective.

The winner of multiple Emmy Awards (8 in all), "Monk" aired 125 episodes over its eight season run (2002-2009).
6. The "Pacific Princess" cruise ship.

Answer: Merrill Stubing

While cruising the seas on the "Pacific Princess", the ultimate authority rested with the ship's captain, Merrill Stubing, on the romantic comedy series, "The Love Boat".

Each episode featured an array of guest stars who would embark on an ocean cruise, in search of love and adventure.

Gavin MacLeod starred as Captain Merrill Stubing, who managed a crew which included the ship's doctor, Adam Bricker (Bernie Kopell), the ship's yeoman purser, Burl "Gopher" Smith (Fred Grandy), the ship's cruise director, Julie McCoy (Lauren Tewes) and the ship's bartender, Isaac Washington (Ted Lange).

"The Love Boat" aired for nine seasons with 193 episodes, including four made-for-TV movie specials. For most episodes, filming took place aboard the "Pacific Princess" cruise ship. On occasion the sister ship, "Island Princess", which was nearly identical, was used.
7. Manhattan District Attorney Office, 2002-2008

Answer: Arthur Branch

Executive Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston), along with Assistant District Attorneys Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza), Alexandria Borgia (Annie Parisse) and Serena Southerlyn (Elisabeth Rohn) all create a whirlwind of activity in the Manhattan District Attorney Office on the series, "Law & Order", but final word went to their boss, District Attorney Arthur Branch (Fred Dalton Thompson).

On the series, Arthur Branch was elected Manhattan District Attorney in 2002. The character appeared in five of the "Law & Order" franchise series, which included 116 episodes of "Law & Order" (1990), 11 episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1999), and one episode each on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2001), and "Conviction" (2006).
D.A. Arthur Branch appeared in all 13 episodes of "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" (2005).

Actor Fred Dalton Thompson hold the distinction of being the first sitting U.S. Senator to appear on a television series playing a character other than himself.
Thompson, a former actor, joined the cast of "Law & Order" during the final year of his Senate term.
In 1994, Thompson was elected to complete the two unexpired years of Al Gore in the Senate, representing the state of Tennessee.
In 1996, Thompson ran and won a six year term in the U.S. Senate.
8. Central Los Angeles Area Office, California Highway Patrol

Answer: Joseph Getraer

Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Frank Poncherello (Erik Estrada) kept the streets and freeways safe as members of the California Highway Patrol on the action series, "CHiPs" (1977).
They worked under the direction of their Watch Commander (supervisor), Sergeant Joseph Getraer (Robert Pine).

"CHiPs" ran for six seasons with 139 episodes. In 1998, a two-hour TV movie, "CHiPs '99", featuring a reunion of many of the original cast members. In the movie, Jon Baker had been promoted to Captain while Joe Getraer was the Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol.

An interesting bit of trivia was that during the entire run of the series, Officers Baker and Poncherello never drew their weapons, an oddity for a police drama series.
9. Manhattan Municipal Court, Criminal Division, Part 2 - on the night shift

Answer: Harold T. Stone

Welcome to the courtroom of Judge Harold T. Stone, (played by Harry Anderson), where an unusual collection of con men, criminals, and petty offenders appeared to plead their cases. Judge Stone managed his courtroom akin to a ringmaster managing a circus, with hilarious results.

"Night Court", a half hour sitcom, showed the lighter side of the legal system.
The series also starred John Larroquette as prosecutor Dan Fielding, Richard Moll and Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon, the bald, gentle giant court bailiff, and Charles Robinson as court clerk Mac Robinson.

"Night Court" aired for nine seasons (1984-1992), with 193 episodes.
10. U.S. Army Garrison - Fort Courage

"Where Indian fights are colorful sights and nobody takes a lickin'.
Where pale face and redskin both turn chicken".
So goes the theme song for the Western frontier comedy series "F-Troop".

The commanding officer in charge of Fort Courage and the personnel of F-Troop
was the mild-mannered, slightly inept, Captain Wilton Parmenter, played by Ken Berry.

"F-Troop" aired 65 half hour episodes over two seasons.
Thirty-four episodes, filmed in black and white, aired in the 1965-1966 season. Thirty-one episodes, filmed in color, aired during the second season (1966-1967).

Starring with Ken Berry on the series were Forrest Tucker as Sgt. Morgan O'Rourke, Larry Storch as Cpl. Randolph Agarn, Melody Patterson as "Wrangler" Jane Thrift, and Frank de Kova as Chief Wild Eagle.
