Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jack was seen aboard an Oceanic flight. What did Jack do to the newspaper that the stewardess gave to him in lieu of another drink?

Answer: he tore out an article

The stewardess stated that the flight would be landing in Los Angeles in the next twenty minutes, so she couldn't serve him another drink. Jack told her that twenty minutes was long time, so she handed him a newspaper. He set it down on the seat next to him, but eventually noticed an article that visibly moved him. He tore out the article and saved it.
2. When Sun asked Jin (in Korean) why he'd agreed to stay behind with Bernard and Sayid, what did he say (in English) was his reason?

Answer: that they had to go home

Sun: "Why are you doing this?"
Jin: "Because we have to go home."
Jin ended up missing his shots at the dynamite, which caused them to be captured by Tom and Pryce.
3. After Ben discovered Juliet's betrayal from Bonnie, he couldn't raise Ryan Pryce on the radio to warn him.

Answer: True

Bonnie broke radio silence from the Looking Glass in order to inform Ben that one of "them" had made it down to their underwater station. When Ben asked which one it was, Charlie spoke loudly to inform of his identity. Bonnie told Ben that Juliet was the one who'd told the survivors about the Looking Glass. Ben tried to warn his raiding party about Juliet's betrayal, but they'd already turned off their own radios in order to sneak up on the beach camp. Sayid and Bernard caused two tents to explode, which killed seven of the members of the raiding party. Jin missed his dynamite, maybe because he had a pistol instead of a rifle, which eventually resulted in the trio's capture.
4. Did Ben tell Ryan Pryce to cut Sayid in order to make Bernard talk?

Answer: No

Ben told Tom (not Pryce) to kill (not cut) Jin (not Sayid) in order to make both men talk, which panicked Bernard. Jin told Bernard not to say anything at all, but Bernard caved under that pressure and said that the beach camp had headed to a radio tower. Ben found out that Karl had warned the camp about the earlier timed raid, as Juliet had not known about it.

He knew then that Alex had to have sent Karl out with that warning. He and Alex decided to travel to the radio tower to convince Jack and the others NOT to leave the island.
5. What did Jack try to convince Dr. Hamill to allow him to do?

Answer: surgery

Jack wanted to operate on the woman whose accident he had caused. Jack had left his vehicle parked on a bridge so he could contemplate suicide. Right as Jack looked to be ready to free fall off that bridge, fate stepped in and an accident occurred right there. Jack came off the concrete side rail and pulled an eight year boy and his mother from a burning vehicle.
Dr. Hamill told Jack that Gary Nadler would be doing the surgery at six the next morning. Nadler is also Bernard's last name, and he is a dentist.

James LeSure played Dr. Hamill. James also played Mike Cannon on the series "Las Vegas".
6. John Locke lying in a pit of dead bodies. What was the first thing Walt said to him?

Answer: Don't John

The correct answer was the only real choice of something Walt said to John. He convinced John that he could still walk and climb out of the pit. Walt also said to put the gun down, to get up, to get out of the ditch, that John could move his legs and that he still had work to do.

There was no way to determine if this was the real Walt using some form of astral projection, or the black smoke life force that can possibly imitate whatever it wants, or perhaps our mysterious "leader" Jacob.
7. Jack finally told Kate that he loved her.

Answer: True

Jack decided to comfort Kate after Sawyer told her he wanted to go back to the beach without her. He explained that Sawyer only said that to protect Kate, which was the reason Jack told Kate not to come back for him in the beginning of the season. Kate implored as to why Jack would stick up for a man who wouldn't do the same for him. Jack's simple answer was, "because I love you."
8. Was Jack the only person to attend the viewing of the mysterious dead person?

Answer: Yes

This was what the article was about. The one Jack tore from the newspaper on the airplane. Nigel Gibbs was the funeral director, but clearly told Jack that only a viewing had been arranged. Jack was shocked to discover he was the only one who attended. Welcome now to "Speculation 101". The coffin was short, not tiny as to hint at a small child, but an average sized adult could have been inside. The person inside could be some unknown character we've yet to meet, or it could be someone else. Kate's reaction left mixed feelings. She clearly couldn't understand why Jack would have expected anyone to attend the viewing, and Jack seemed to care deeply about this person's passing.

Hoffs Drawler is an anagram for the theme, flash forward.
9. Who died first inside the Looking Glass?

Answer: Greta

On Ben's orders, Mikhail killed Greta and Bonnie. Bonnie did not die right away, and Des shot Mikhail with a spear gun before he could kill Charlie. Charlie died after Mikhail detonated a hand grenade under water, as he drowned when the water poured into the hatch. Mikhail presumably died at the same time, but the man seems to rejuvenate easily.
10. Why was Charlie the perfect person to deactivate the jamming equipment inside the Looking Glass?

Answer: it had been programmed by a musician

The code was a numeric keypad that could play "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys. Bonnie told them this before she died, and added that a musician had programmed it.
11. Which person did Hurley kill when he ran over them with the Dharma van?

Answer: Ryan Pryce

Hurley ran over Pryce, Sayid broke Jason's neck, and Sawyer shot Tom.
12. In his flash forward, Jack behaved as though someone we knew to be dead was actually still alive. Which person was that?

Answer: his father

I didn't think much on the first reference, when Jack tried to get a fake prescription of Oxycodone filled. He told the pharmacy tech that his father had written it. She said she had to call his office, but Jack became violent and told her not to bother. I assumed it was because Christian was dead. Later, he told Dr. Hamill to call his father down "here", and that if Jack was drunker than Christian, Hamill could fire him. That made me wonder if Christian was dead at all. And, in that scene, he did not refer to Christian by name, so maybe Christian isn't Jack's real father after all?
13. What did Charlie write on his hand to show Desmond, as he drowned?

Answer: Not Penny's Boat

This could possibly be the easiest question of all in this quiz. Charlie lived out Desmond's prediction. He shut off the blinking yellow light, and then he drowned. But, before he died he communicated with Des' gal Penny Widmore. She didn't know who Naomi was, and that gave Charlie time to warn Des.
14. Was it Danielle who turned off her message inside the radio tower?

Answer: Yes

Her message played out 17,550,446 ½ times before she turned it off. She told Alex that she'd recorded is sixteen years earlier, three days before Alex's birth. Naomi couldn't get a satellite signal inside the tower bunker, so she returned outside in time to be killed by Locke.
15. The episode coda started off full of hope. Naomi's phone worked, and Jack got a confirmation of their pending rescue. The music swelled with joy and hope, but then we were returned to the future.. What was the theme of Jack's meeting with Kate at the airport?

Answer: They should have never left the island

He told her that they should have never left at all. She said that yes, they should have. Ben, Locke, Walt, the island, were they all right? Walt sent Locke to stop their rescue, or the island did in a Walt formation.
Kate told Jack she had to leave, as "he'd" be wondering where she went. I have no idea which "he" she meant, I am sure we will find out in the final 48 episodes to come.. Jack ended season three saying "we have to go back."

Season four begins in February 2008.
