Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ned needs to talk to Robert and he sees that Lancel is having trouble strapping on the king's breastplate. He's too fat for his armour. What does Robert demand that Lancel get to make his armour fit?

Answer: A breastplate stretcher

Ned thinks that a breastplate stretcher should be invented since there is no such thing. Robert wanted to take part in the next joust and Ned talks him out of it, saying that there's no one in the Seven Kingdoms who would take him on.
2. The second joust is about to begin and the contestants are The Mountain and Ser Loras the Knight of the Flowers. After presenting Sansa with a rose, Ser Loras is ready for the joust but The Mountain's horse is very feisty. Why is his horse acting so rough?

Answer: Ser Loras' mare is in heat

The Mountain's horse is a stallion while Ser Loras' is a mare in heat which is how he's able to topple The Mountain from his horse. The Mountain calls for his sword and hacks his horse's head off and attacks Ser Loras, but The Hound interferes and battles for Ser Loras but Robert puts an end to it. "Stop all this nonsense in the name of your King!"
3. After having Tyrion arrested at The Inn of the Crossroads, Cat is bringing him to justice at her sister's castle, The Eyrie. When they arrive in the throne room we find Lysa (Cat's sister) on a weirwood throne. Her young son Robin sits next to her. What is odd about this little boy?

Answer: He still breastfeeds at age 8.

It seems very strange that Robin is still un-weaned from his mother's milk at his age. Robin is told about the Imp being a bad man and Robin wants to see the bad man fly. This will be explained in quiz number 6.
4. Before Tyrion is to have his trial, Lysa commands that Tyrion be placed into one of the many Sky Cells which is guarded by the gaoler (Old English for jailer), Mord. What is interesting about the Sky Cell?

Answer: It has an open wall leading to the valley below.

The Sky Cells have sloped floors and an open wall. Should the prisoner roll too far over in his sleep, down, down he falls hundreds of feet into the valley below. The Eyrie is built upon a high bridge overlooking the Vale.
5. Tyrion calls out to Mord because he can't stand being in his cell. Mord enters and accuses the "dwarf man" of making too much noise. Tyrion promises gold to Mord if he delivers a message to Lady Arryn for him. He says a popular phrase about his family. Do you recall the phrase?

Answer: "A Lannister always pays his debts"

"A Lannister always pays his debts" is the popular phrase, since they are the richest family in all of Westeros.
6. Bran is in the courtyard with Maester Luwin going over the history of the Seven Kingdoms. He has the boy mention the house sigils and mottos. Theon is practising archery and mentions what his family is famous for: "Archery, navigation and lovemaking". Maester Luwin mumbles something else to Bran. What does he say to him about the Greyjoy family?

Answer: "And failed rebellions"

The sigil of the Greyjoys is a Kraken and their motto is "We do not Sow". They have ruled the Iron Islands for three hundred years. The failed rebellion Luwin speaks of is their loss at The Pyke of which Theon is not the only survivor of his family his father still rules, though he is Ned Stark's ward.
7. Arya is chasing a cat through the halls of the Red Keep as part of her training with Syrio Forel. The cat leads her into the dungeon where she sees a large dragon skull. She hears two men coming and talking about the murder of The Hand of the King. She hides inside the skull and only hears them but we know who they are. Can you tell me who the men are?

Answer: Lord Varys and Magister Ilyrio

Varys is talking to Ilyrio, who has sailed over from Vaes Dothrak to bring him news about the Dothraki. Arya overhears them talking about The Wolf and the Lion, meaning House Stark and House Lannister, and they may go to war before the Dothraki cross the Narrow Sea and they conspire that The Hand of the King might possibly be murdered.
8. Ned meets with Robert at the small council meeting. Robert is furious because he has learned that Daenerys Targaryen is with child. As the meeting progresses, Ned removes his badge of office as the Hand of the King. Why does he remove his badge of office?

Answer: Robert wants mother and child murdered.

Ned will have nothing to to with the murder of an innocent child. Robert threatens Ned's position, telling him that he'll find another Hand who'll obey his orders. "And, good luck to him", Ned says as he walks out of the meeting.
9. In another room of the Red Keep we see Ser Loras and Lord Renly together. Both men are shirtless and are in deep conversation. What is Ser Loras doing while he's talking with Renly?

Answer: Shaving his chest

The two men are lovers and Ser Loras is shaving Renly's chest hair. Their conversation mentions that Ser Loras would make a wonderful king, yet Renly tells him that he's fourth in line and it'll be a long wait.
10. Jamie Lannister and his swordsmen return to the Red Keep. He sees Ned exiting a brothel with Lord Baelish. He demands the release of his brother and Ned's swordsmen get involved in a skirmish including Jory, who is killed. How does Jamie kill Jory Cassel?

Answer: A dagger through the eye

In defence of his swordsmen, Ned has a duel with Jamie after he kills Jory with a dagger through the left eye. Ned is downed by one of Jamie's swordsmen with a spear through the leg. Jamie smashes his man over and demands that Cat release his brother and that he be returned to the Red Keep.
