After Mark Graison returns to her life she initially decides to sell it to Jeremy Wendell, but changes her mind at the Oil Baron's Ball. Later in the season she changes her mind again and sells the company completely to JR.

Patty Shepard comes to town ready to fix Sue Ellen and JR's marriage. When she realizes that is not going to happen, she coaxes Sue Ellen to fight for sole custody of John Ross.

Despite her enormous problems with alcohol, the judge gives custody to the reformed Sue Ellen. In the end, Sue Ellen allows John Ross to remain at South Fork, because she knows it is what is best for his well being. This confuses and angers her mother. Soon after Sue Ellen forfeits her custodial rights by moving back into South Fork to be near John Ross.

She and JR remain married in name only.

Of course he does! He collaborates with an old friend of Bobby's. He hires Matt Cantrell to show up and convince Pam that Bobby backed him in an emerald mine in Columbia. It does not take much to have Pam talk herself into not only backing the project financially, but also to go down there herself.

While there she is kidnapped and held for ransom. Marc Singer, star of "V" and "The Beastmaster", played the fly by night entrepreneur Matt. Matt did actually find emeralds in the mine, which helped ease his guilt over lying to Pam, but there was an earthquake and the mine was destroyed.

As per usual, JR's interest in Sue Ellen resurfaces as soon as he realizes she is over him and happy. She dates Mark's long time friend and doctor Jerry Kenderson for a short time. JR even tries to dig up dirt on Jerry, but comes up empty handed. In the end, Sue Ellen ends the relationship because of a lack of chemistry with Jerry. JR leaves Mandy Winger for good, and he reconciles with Sue Ellen by season's end. Barry Jenner played Jerry, he was also on the TV series "Family Matters" from 1991-1998.

Cliff helped Mandy realize that JR was cheating her with Angelica Nero. Mandy then agrees to spy on JR for Cliff. She eventually stops doing it because she feels guilty. She confesses to JR, but he never lets on that he already knew it. He dumps her, but she tries desperately to hold on to him. When she realizes he wants Sue Ellen back, she even sends provocative photos to him at his office. Miss USA 1970 Deborah Shelton played the sexy Mandy Winger from 1984-1987.

Though an awful blow initially, Donna never wanted to abort the pregnancy. It did not take Ray too long to come around either. Sadly, Donna lost her baby during an accident at the Ewing Rodeo.

Tony is deaf, but can speak pretty clearly. He takes a shine to Ray and Donna, but when they want to adopt him he is reluctant. They find out that he was almost adopted once before, but the adoptive father died right before it took place. Then, the mother was left penniless and unable to complete the adoption.

After they convince Tony to give them a chance, they hit a snag over Ray's mercy killing of Mickey Trotter. Ray's Aunt Lil comes to testify and they are granted permission to adopt Tony. The adoption never takes place in this season, due to the ending being all a dream.

Angelica approaches Cliff about a joint venture with Marinos Shipping. She knows that JR will get wind of it and peak his interest. That is exactly what happens, and JR involves Ewing Oil with Marinos. The only problem is that Angelica and her cohorts need Jack to pose as Dimitri Marinos, so they can fool the world into believing he is alive and in good health.

Merete Van Kamp played Angelica's sidekick Grace Van Owen. Her initial interaction with Jack Ewing was just to keep him at ease and off guard about the real reason he was needed. Later, Grace's feelings for Jack become real and she warns him and JR about Angelica's plan to kill them when they've served their purpose. Angelica kills Grace, Nicholas, Jamie and Sue Ellen during this season. Jack tried to start a relationship with Jenna early on in the year, but she was too tormented over Bobby to let it continue.

Though wanted for questioning, Angelica had NO problems getting from Martinique back to Dallas. Her first stop was to kill her second victim, former partner Nicholas. Then she moved onto the United States and set it up for JR and Jack to be killed.

It is unknown! She rigs the briefcase of information to be a bomb, delivers it to JR in his office, and then the police take her away. JR calls Jack to warn him that he is also a target, and hears Jack screaming as Jamie is blown up in the background.

She was inside Jack's rigged car. JR hurries out of Ewing Oil, boards the elevator to go down, and just as he gets inside Sue Ellen steps out of the other one. She runs into JR's office and the bomb goes off. It is possible that JR was also killed inside the elevator, but unknown.

The valet at the wedding, which was at Mark's house, was hired by Angelica to set off the bomb. It seemed to already be installed inside the car, and he reached inside and set some trigger.

Though the plan was to kill JR at Ewing Oil and Jack inside his car, it was actually Sue Ellen that dies for sure in JR's office. Jamie was the poor victim in the explosion of Jack's car. When JR called to warn Jack, Jamie went out and started his car, and BOOM!
