The film (and the book) take place in the fictional town of Paradise, Massachusetts. The location of the film is actually not filmed in Massachusetts at all, but Canada. Particularly, Nova Scotia.
2. Who runs the downtown homicide division of the Los Angeles Police Department in the film?

Answer: Captain Cronjager

The film begins with Jesse standing at the end of a pier, looking out at the ocean. A police officer walks up to him and begins questioning him on who he is and what he's doing. After Jesse informs the officer that he himself is a cop, the officer asks this in a presumed attempt to verify that Stone is telling the truth.
3. What does Hasty say he used to work as that allowed him to become adept at laundering money?

Answer: Bank teller

Hasty and Joe Genest are sitting together as Hasty runs money through a money counter shortly before Joe announces that Lou Carson is dead. He tells Hasty that he's pretty good at working the money counter, Hasty explains to him why this is.

Hasty is extremely jealous about his wife and often gets upset over the thought of anyone so much as making a pass at her. Knowing this, Jesse informs Hasty towards the end of the film that he believes that Joe Genest has been sleeping with Hasty's wife behind his back. Because of this, Hasty shoots Joe in the back when Joe is in the middle of a confrontation with Jesse.

Formerly from Los Angeles and its police department, Chief Stone is seen with a hat with "LAPD" on the front of it even after arriving in Paradise. He eventually asks Officer DeAngelo to order him a hat with "PPD" on the front and the word "Chief" on the back.

Answer: False

Lou Carson is involved with the money laundering scheme with Hasty Hathaway and Joe Genest. Because of this, Hasty forces Lou to quit as he considers him too much of a liability to the operation.
