Answer: The shoe store

The family is forced to sleep in the shoe store because their house has to be fumigated and Al is too cheap to stay in a hotel. Meanwhile, Kelly is grounded because she is failing out of school. Kelly intends to sneak out of the shoe store so she can attend a concert, but this is easily said than done since Al has the only key she needs to exit the store.

Answer: Dents his car

Steve is away on business and let it be known that absolutely no one was to touch his new Mercedes. However, Marcy's car is in the shop and she has no choice but to use Steve's car. She dents it and Steve becomes impotent when he discovers the dent. Marcy feels terrible but Peggy tries to convince her she has every right to use Steve's car. Meanwhile, Al tells Steve the perfect way to get revenge on Marcy.

Answer: How Do I Love Thee?

When the mailman delivers Steve and Marcy's mail to the Bundys, Al and Peggy apply to be on a gameshow for newlyweds called "How Do I Love Thee?" under the Rhoades' names. They win a few prizes against another newlywed couple and then move on to face a couple married a long time. That couple turns out to be Steve and Marcy competing under Al and Peggy's name.

The Bundys and the Rhoades face off for the grand prize of a brand new car.

Answer: The racetrack

Al wins #1,200 when he and Steve go to the racetrack. Steve wins a moderate amount he intends to share with Marcy. Al tells him he cannot do that because Marcy will tell Peggy and Peggy will know Al has money. However, Peggy sniffs out the truth anyway and she and the kids search the house for Al's winnings but can't find them.

Answer: Hondo

All Al wants to do is watch one of his favorite movies, John Wayne's "Hondo", which he always misses for one reason or another. Peggy tells Al that some of family members are coming for a visit. Al warns her that they better not cause him to miss "Hondo" again.

However, Al gets caught up in Peggy's family drama when one her triplet aunts wants to get married which will cause their singing group to break up. In addition to the triplets, Peggy's uncles Irwin and Otto (who may or may not be in a relationship with each other) also visit and add to the drama.

Answer: The Little Engine That Could

Al finds an old library book in the attic ("The Little Engine That Could") and Steve makes him return it to the library. Al says he hates libraries because of the mean, fat librarian he knew as a child named Ms. De Groot. Steve says that is no reason not to return the book and that the woman is probably dead by now since the book was borrowed over thirty years ago and the librarian was an old woman then.

When Al returns the book, he discovers the librarian is still alive and has been waiting three decades for Al to return.

Answer: His shirt

Peggy sees whom she believes is Elvis at Al's shoe store. Later when doing the laundry, she and Marcy see an Elvis-shaped sweat stain on one of Al's shirts. She becomes locally famous and the Bundys (minus Al) try to profit off the incident by turning their house into a museum of Elvis memorabilia for people who travel around the country to track down Elvis.

Answer: Cheerleading

At Polk High, the star football player named Matt is on track to break one of Al's old records. Kelly is smitten with Matt but he is too focused on football to notice her. With Bud's help, Kelly joins the cheerleading squad for the last game of the season so she can attract Matt.

However, that does not work either. Meanwhile, Al is upset that Matt is about to break one of his records and hopes he will fail to do so even if it costs Polk High the championship.

Answer: The women's monthly visitors

Al and Steve plan a guy's weekend fishing trip. However, Steve tells Marcy who decides to come along with them and Al is forced to bring his entire family along. On the first day, Peggy, Marcy and Kelly all have their monthly visitors and none of the women will allow the men to go fishing or hunting. In addition, wild animals start attacking Steve's car and all six of them are trapped inside the cabin.

This episode was originally called "A Period Piece" but that name was blocked by the censors.

Answer: Ferguson

Al purchases a Ferguson Flush toilet which he claims is the best toilet around. His father had one and when Al was a child, his dad took him to see the Ferguson factory in Maine. Al is obsessed with his toilet which becomes his pride and joy. He leaves it in the middle of the living room until it is ready to be installed, much to the family's chagrin.
