Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After Captain Picard was assimilated by the Borg, what was his designation?

Answer: Locutus

The way the show introduced the idea of Borg assimilation was to show that once part of the collective, even someone with Picard's strength of will would fully cooperate with them. I thought it was a really effective demonstration of the effect.
2. Where did Admiral Hansen's fleet fight and lose to the Borg?

Answer: Wolf 359

At this point in time, the Federation solutions for fighting the Borg were still in the development stages, and it showed. Watching the Enterprise move past the ruined ships was a startling image.
3. In 'Remember Me', who was trapped in a warp bubble?

Answer: Dr. Crusher

She was accidentally caught in the bubble during an experiment that Wesley was performing. This episode also included the 2nd appearance of the Traveler, who in order to help Wesley save his mom, helped him on another step toward the destiny referred to back in the 1st season.
4. A common theme in the 4th season was the introduction of the crew's family members in multiple episodes. The next few questions are about them. First, What did Dr. Soong attempt to give Data in 'Brothers'?

Answer: Emotion chip

Brent Spiner played Data, Lore, and their creator, an aging Dr. Noonien Soong. Lore managed to trick the doctor into giving him the emotion chip, which was designed specially for Data, to him. He then mortally wounded the doctor, and left. The effect of the chip on him wasn't shown at the time, but we'd find out more in the future.
5. In the episode 'Family', we saw family members of more than one crew member. Which crew member on the list wasn't one of them?

Answer: Riker

The episode was in effect part 3 of the 'Best of Both Worlds' story. While the Enterprise was being refit, Picard spent time on the family estate in France with his brother's family, Worf's human parents came on board the ship for a visit, and Wesley watched a holographic message that his father had recorded for him when he was a baby. Riker's father was in an episode during the 2nd season.
6. Ishara Yar exploited her sister Tasha's friendship with which crew member to trick the Enterprise into helping her get a chance to almost destroy her enemy's defense systems?

Answer: Data

One of the groups in a gang war on Turkana IV had captured some Federation citizens. The Enterprise came to the rescue, and found Ishara in the opposition group. She convinced Data she just just wanted to help with the rescue, and he convinced the others.
7. What was the name of Worf's son?

Answer: Alexander

Ambassador K'hleyr appeared in an early episode where she had a romantic (by Klingon standards) encounter with Worf. Alexander was the result of that. After Duras murdered her, Alexander was sent to live with Worf's human parents.
8. In 'Reunion', what race created the detonator used on the bomb that was exploded during the Sanchi ceremony?

Answer: Romulans

This fact tied the bomb to Duras, a contestant in the process to choose a new Klingon chancellor, who's family had a history of dealing with the Romulans. K'hleyr was looking for clearer proof, but her search caught his attention, and he killed her. Worf, as her mate, killed Duras in open conbat to take vengeance.
9. In 'Future Imperfect', which fake character caused Riker to realize that he was being tricked into thinking he was living 16 years in the future?

Answer: His wife

An alien boy trapped on a planet wanted a companion, and tried to create a world Riker would think was real, with himself as Riker's son. His mistake was choosing Minuet as the dead wife, a woman that was memorable to Riker, but not real. She was the holographic character that the Bynars used to distract Riker and Picard while they stole the ship back in the 1st season.
10. Who was Wesley Crusher with on his last mission with the Enterprise?

Answer: Picard

Following a shuttle crash and an injury to Captain Picard, their only source of water was blocked by an energy shield. Wesley managed to shut down the shield and save Picard. This was Wil Wheaton's last episode as a regular member of the cast.
11. Here's one more family question. What was the name of Chief O'Brien's wife?

Answer: Keiko

In 'Data's Day', we see the events of an eventful day as described in a letter from Data to Commander Maddox. He gives away the bride at Keiko and Miles wedding, is taught to dance by Dr. Crusher, and figures out that a supposed Vulcan ambassador who was killed in a transporter accident was beamed to a Romulan vessel, and turned out to be a spy for them.
12. What Federation ship was destroying Cardassian ships without orders in 'The Wounded'?

Answer: USS Phoenix

The episode introduced the Cardassians into the series, just after the end of a war with the Federation. The Phoenix's captain, who's family was killed in the war, was sure that the Cardassians were rearming, and was destroying ships til he could prove it. O'Brien, who'd served under him previously, was able to convince him that his approach was wrong.
13. For how many years had the citizens of Ventax supposedly been promised peace and prosperity by Ardra in exchange for enslavement afterward in 'The Devil's Due?

Answer: 1000

As the 1000 year aniversary approached, a con artist learned about the story, and through a combination of 24th century technology and classic con artist tricks convinced people she was Ardra. Unfortunately for her, the Enterprise found her ship and exposed her.
14. Which event wasn't an indication that something odd had occurred on board in 'Clues'?

Answer: Picard's nightmares

The Enterprise is captured by a race trying to avoid contact with everyone. They agree to erase everyone's mind so they'll remember nothing of the contact, but things on board were overlooked and the crew figured out what had happened. A 2nd attempt at the same thing was done correctly.
15. In 'First Contact', what the name of the scientist that Picard and Troi initially met with?

Answer: Mirasta

The Malcorians were about to develop warp drive, which was the point at which the Federation initiates contact. Unfortunately, Riker was injured, and his identity discovered. The panic caused by this was enough to convince the planetary leader to ask the Enterprise to leave, but with his blessings, they took Mirasta with them, rather than have her suffer under severe restrictions.
16. In 'Galaxy's Child', was the real Dr. Leah Brahms married?

Answer: Yes

Geordi, in his enthusiasm to meet the real Dr. Brahms after having gotten attached to the holographic version, didn't bother to check whether or not she was married, which caused some very awkward moments. A reference to his wife Leah in the final episode suggested they might have gotten together in the future, but nothing more.
17. In order for the Enterprise to escape the effect that trapped the ship in "Night Terrors", what substance did the crew have to release from the ship?

Answer: Hydrogen

A 2nd ship trapped by the same effect could set off an explosion that would free them both, but didn't have anything to fuel the explosion with. When the Enterprise released the hydrogen, the other ship detonated it, and both ships got free of the Tyken's Rift.
18. What character from literature was Lt. Barclay playing during the episode "The Nth Degree"?

Answer: Cyrano de Bergerac

At the start of the episode, Barclay was his normally nervous self acting in a play to try and come out of his shell. After a probe caused him to become remarkably intelligent, he not only could discuss theory with Einstein, but was sure enough of himself that his next performance in the play was so good that it moved Dr. Crusher to tears.
19. What character did Q turn Picard into in "QPid"?

Answer: Robin Hood

Q decides to have Picard, as Robin Hood, save Vash, who Picard had a romance with in the episode "Captain's Holiday", as Maid Marion, and Q as the Sheriff of Nottingham, with the senior staff as the merry men. Say what you will about the episode, but Patrick Stewart had a lot better accent than Kevin Costner.
20. We meet Lursa and B'Etor in the cliffhanger season ending episode "Redemption, Part 1. Who was their brother?

Answer: Duras

After Worf killed Duras in "Reunion", Gowron was the only contender for Supreme Chancellor. At his installation ceremony, the sisters produced Toral, Duras' illegitimate son, and said he should be Chancellor. When Picard ruled against his claim, his supporters walked out and started a Klingon civil war.
