Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Leaving Buenos Aires, Argentina in Leg 3, teams had to head to San Antonio de Areco by what means?

Answer: Bus

Teams left the Campo Argentino de Polo, their second Pit Stop, late in the evening and needed to head directly to a bus station to start their lengthy trip to the town of San Antonio de Areco in the Pampas of Argentina. Splitting into three buses based on their arrival at the station, teams arrived at their destination only to hop into the back of a pick-up truck and visit a Gaucho ranch by the name of La Porteņa.

It was there that they received their next clue.
2. How many slabs of meat did team members need to set up for the fire during the Leg 3 Road Block (in Argentina)?

Answer: Three

Reaching La Porteņa, teams were confronted by a Road Block. For this, teams chose Justin, Josh, Joey, Chris, Rick, Danielle, James Earl, Tiffany, and Ernest, all of whom (as per the prompt) were 'smokin' hot'. For this challenge, team members needed to prep a meal Gaucho-style by nabbing two racks of lamb and a rack of beef ribs and then setting them up-- bones out, right side up, and skewered properly-- as per given examples along a fire pit.

When their judges gave the approval they would be given a cooked rack to be delivered to Plaza Principal in town, and the festival judges there would trade another clue for the meal.
3. During the 'Horse' Detour task in Leg 3, did teams have to work with real horses?

Answer: No

Reaching the festival, teams had to choose between two Detour task that would take up the remainder of the leg, and to do this, teams needed to retrieve either a polo mallet or a buggy whip from a nearby rack and travel on foot to their proceeding task.

In 'Horse', teams proceeded to the Boliche de Bessonart to suit up into polo uniforms. Then, they walked to a challenge site at which they needed to properly outfit a fake horse. When approved by a local ranch owner they would need to transport their horse, on wheels, back to the Plaza Principal to get their next clue.
4. Which team did not complete the 'Carriage' Detour task in Argentina in Leg 3?

Answer: Jazmine and Danielle

If teams took the buggy whip instead of the polo mallet, it indicated that they would be taking the 'Carriage' Detour task, an option that would be required if six teams took the only six polo mallets before them (and they did). Ultimately Cindy and Rick, Tiffany and Krista, and Ernest and Jin were forced to complete this task in which they walked across town to La Cinacina Estancia.

There, they changed into gaucho outfits and cleaned a carriage to be hooked up to horses. They could then return to the Plaza Principal to get their next clue in style.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 3 in Argentina?

Answer: Ernest and Jin

To finish off this third leg of the race, the teams got one last clue to end their Detour at the Plaza Principal. Their last to-do involved making their way to the next Pit Stop waiting in front of Parque Criollo y Museo Gauchesco. There, Tanner and Josh narrowly beat out Justin and Diana despite Tanner's injury, and with that they took a trip for two to Siem Reap, Cambodia courtesy of Travelocity.

After being unable to catch up to the other teams due to their late Pit Start time and separate bus trip, Ernest and Jin placed last this leg and were eliminated in ninth place.
6. Teams visited two nations in Leg 4, but the first one, and the town of Livingstone, was in which of these destinations?

Answer: Zambia

Teams left Plaza Principal in San Antonio de Areco a day after their arrival and in the order in which they arrived, and all of them were on the same bus back to Buenos Aires to catch one of two pre-booked flights to the city of Livingstone, Zambia, a destination more than six thousand miles away. Four teams were able to reserve seats on the first flight landing fifteen minutes earlier than their competitors. Upon arrival, teams hopped into cabs and headed to Mukuni Village to receive a traditional Mukuni welcome before receiving their next clue.
7. For their Road Block in Leg 4, team members rode in one of which of these as they flew over Africa?

Answer: Microlight

After their welcome and traditional blessing, teams headed to the Batoka Aerodrome to grab a Road Block clue asking 'who wants to rise above the smoke that thunders?' It allowed team members to hop into a microlight aircraft and fly over Victoria Falls for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

While in the air, the selected team members (Kelsey, Diana, Jazmine, Rick, Logan, Denise, and Krista) needed to keep their eyes peeled for a race flag and, once found, reunite with their partner and direct a cab to their destination, the Knife's Edge bridge at the falls. After this, teams had to cross the border from Zambia into Zimbabwe and check in at Shoestrings Backpackers Lodge in Victoria Falls.

They would be staying overnight and departing in the morning.
8. In the 'Co-op' Detour task in Leg 4, teams had to stain and polish a carving of what animal?

Answer: Giraffe

Waking up to an early morning departure (as early as 8:00am), teams were handed a Detour clue that allowed them to choose either 'Co-op' or 'Croquet'. In 'Co-op', teams raced to the Big Five Co-op to stain a hand-crafted giraffe carving for sale. Using a toothbrush to coat the animal, they had to evenly stain and then polish their carving before continuing on.

In 'Croquet', teams instead had to play the game at the Victoria Falls Hotel, scoring five points against a local player to collect their clue. Cindy and Rick, Logan and Chris, Tiffany and Krista, and Jazmine and Danielle completed the longer task, 'Co-op', while Justin and Diana, Tanner and Josh, Kelsey and Joey, and Denise and James Earl finished 'Croquet'.
9. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop at the Rose of Charity Orphanage in Leg 4?

Answer: Tiffany and Krista

Following the early Detour, teams were told to head directly to the race's fourth Pit Stop at the Rose of Charity Orphanage in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. There, teams encountered a U-Turn board. While Tiffany and Krista used the board to U-Turn Justin and Diana, their targets were actually well past it (in first place) and it didn't have any effect. Justin and Diana, who placed first, didn't receive a prize for winning but were handed a new clue and told to keep on racing directly into the fifth leg. It spared last place team Tiffany and Krista from elimination as well (with no Speed Bump in the proceeding leg).

As an added note, all teams landing on the Pit Stop mat were required to donate their money to the orphanage.
10. Tanner and Josh utilized the Express Pass during Leg 4. Who did they subsequently give it to as per this race mechanic's rules for this season?

Answer: Denise and James Earl

Tanner and Josh used the Express Pass to skip over this leg's Road Block, and as such, neither was selected to complete the task. It somewhat backfired on the pair as they were equalized with teams going into an overnight stay. They arrived in second place at the Pit Stop and were required to give the Express Pass to another team upon their arrival, and that Express Pass would need to be used by the recipients in the next leg.

They opted to play fair with the Express Pass, giving it to the team that checked in next to the Pit Stop. That ended up being Denise and James Earl.
