Heading out from Aldershot GO Station outside of Hamilton, Ontario, departing immediately from the sixth Pit Stop, teams were told to take the rails to Union Station in Downtown Toronto and then to Kingston, Canada's first capital. While Steph and Kristen ended up getting a fifteen hour advantage over the last place team, catching the penultimate VIA Rail train out of Union Station, all teams were equalized heading to the clue box waiting for them at Vader's Maple Syrup in Springer Market Square.

Answer: Soccer

Teams leaving Springer Market Square were told to find their vehicles-- all-new Chevrolet Cruzes-- at Clarence Street where they would need to solve a safe puzzle to unlock tablets they could use to unlock their cars. Following this, teams were given a Detour task, a choice between 'On the Field' and 'Offshore'.

In 'On the Field', teams needed to head to Queen's University where both team members needed to complete a series of soccer drills. The catch? They needed to do so while wearing zorb balls, easily making the task all the more difficult.

Answer: Two

Instead of 'On the Field', teams could complete the 'Offshore' Detour task in which both team members needed to properly rig a sailboat at the Kingston Yacht Club, then manage to steer it out to a marked buoy to claim their next clue. Following the task, teams found a Double U-Turn board awaiting them outside Kingston Penitentiary, and it was used twice-- once by Steph and Kristen to stop Jillian and Emmett, and once by Jillian and Emmett to stop Joel and Ashley.

As a result, both U-Turned teams had to complete 'Offshore'.

After facing the Double U-Turn and finding their clue in the cells of Kingston Penitentiary, teams needed to head to Bellevue House, the home of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald. There, one member of each team had to complete the Road Block for this leg of the race. For this task, the selected member had to put to use their memorization skills as they learned and recited a speech once said by MacDonald in Canada's early days. Kristen, Amy, Emmett, Yvette, Ashley, and Lowell completed this task. This was the last possible task during which Steph and Kristen were able to use their Express Pass.

Instead, they held onto it.

Answer: Julie and Lowell

After their Road Block, teams were told to race to the seventh Pit Stop of the race at the Kingston Mills Lock Station on the Rideau Canal where, considering the events of the previous days, one of them would definitely be eliminated from the game. Steph and Kristen maintained their lead despite not using their Express Pass, winning their third consecutive leg of the race and taking with them a trip for two to Rome, Italy courtesy of Hotels.com.

In the end of the leg, Julie and Lowell were unable to keep up with the teams due in part to Lowell's eyesight.

They became the fifth team eliminated from the race.

Answer: Havana

Commencing Leg 8, the final five teams were rushed off to their second international destination of the race: Havana, the capital city of Cuba. Beginning the leg at Kingston City Hall, teams needed to catch a VIA Rail train back to Union Station in Toronto, then take an express train to Pearson International Airport to catch the same flights to Havana. Upon arriving, teams needed to take a cab to Castillo de la Real Fuerza where, searching the museum inside, they needed to find a replica of the Bluenose schooner to find their next route marker.

Answer: 'Sugar'

Finding their first clue in Havana, teams needed to choose between 'Sugar' and 'Shake', both of which would take teams into the heart of Old Havana. In 'Sugar', teams needed to use sugar cane to grind fifteen litres of sugar cane juice with a manual grinder.

Then, using their extracts, they had to server drinks in a local park to get their next clue. Jillian and Emmett and Steph and Kristen completed this task. In 'Shake', teams had to learn a local version of the salsa and perform it with six other dancers to get their next clue. Rita and Yvette, Frankie and Amy, and Joel and Ashley completed this task.

After this, they could head to the Cámara Oscura, and spy a race flag hanging in Ernest Hemingway's hotel room window at the Hotel Ambos Mundos.

Answer: Beach volleyball

After visiting the Hotel Ambos Mundos, teams raced onward to Playas del Este where they found the first Face-Off of the race. In this challenge, teams needed to go head-to-head with only one team advancing to the next task. In this case, it was a game of beach volleyball which teams leaving in the following order: Jillian and Emmett, Steph and Kristen, Rita and Yvette, Joel and Ashley, and Frankie and Amy. Frankie and Amy, who left last, were forced to wait through an hourglass timer before they could continue on to their next destination.

Answer: Engine gaskets

After the Face-Off, teams took cabs to Pedrito's Max Brakes in the outskirts of Havana where they located their Road Block task. For this task, one member of each team (Emmett, Steph, Rita, Joel, and Frankie) needed to use the rubber from old, used tires and, with only a silent demonstration to guide them, craft three engine gaskets to fit specifications. Once they mastered this handy skill, they would be given the clue sending them to the Pit Stop.

Answer: Rita and Yvette

To end this eighth leg of the race, the final five teams needed to make their way through Havana to the waterfront and find the Pit Stop waiting outside Restaurante La Divina Pastora outside the Fortress El Morro. Here, Jillian and Emmett reclaimed the first place spot (their third of the race, and the first one in six legs), also winning a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico courtesy of Hotels.com.

The last team to arrive, surviving by the sin of their teeth in this final non-elimination leg, was Rita and Yvette.

They would be forced to face a Speed Bump in Leg 9.
