In the beginning of the episode, Bart returns home from school and heads upstairs to feed his frog some freshly-caught flies. Along the way, he drops all of his things in the hall on the way to his room. When Homer walks down the hall, he accidentally slips on Bart's skateboard and falls down the stairs.

This causes him to put out his back. Lisa and Marge return to find Homer on the floor when they return home.

Answer: In the school bathroom

While being forced to clean his room, Bart finds a box with a single cherry bomb inside. Since he thought that he'd used them all, he saves this one for a special occasion and decides to set it off in the school bathroom. Coincidentally, Principal Skinner's mother, Agnes, is in the adjoining girls' washroom using the lavatory. Skinner finds out too late.

Because of his back injury, Homer is forced to stay on the couch all day in his house coat. Using a small bell and loud shouting, Homer tries to get Marge's attention for various things (sometimes obvious things). After Bart's incident at school, Principal Skinner ends up bringing Bart home himself for a talk with his parents regarding his behavior.

After briefing Homer and Marge on the situation from earlier that day, he suggests that since expulsion or detention wouldn't be enough, they deport Bart. His way of doing this wold be to send Bart to France for three months via the foreign exchange program at school despite poor grades and academic behavior. Bart agrees to this, not fully understanding why they're sending him off.

While Bart heads off to France, the Simpsons prevent themselves from paying for his trip by having Albanian student, Adil, visit them for the duration. When Bart arrives, he is whisked away to what he thinks is a winery fit for a rich family, but he's instead taken to a dump, where he's forced to do the labour that the owners should be doing.

Although the Château Maison looks delightful on its wine bottle, the place looks nothing like its picture. The place is literally a dilapidated farm. The owners of the farm literally say that 'escape is impossible'. They also note that if Bart shuts up, then he might just get by. Meanwhile, the Tirana-Springfield flight carrying Adil lands in the U.S.A.

Answer: Maurice

Because Bart is now living at the Château Maison, the owners feel that he can take over Maurice's daily chores on the farm. They even make Bart sleep on the floor, while the donkey sleeps in better conditions and they steal Bart's belongings when he arrives. Meanwhile, in America, Adil is welcomed by the community and he gets along with the Simpsons.

They find that Adil is much more polite than their own son, and they are grateful that they could get such a great exchange student.

While talking to Homer, Adil asks if he can come visit his 'new father' at the Nuclear Power Plant. Homer agrees stating that none of his biological kids would want to see where he works. When they arrive, Adil asks to see the Plutonium Isolation Machine (which Lenny says is in Sector 12).

They arrive and Adil takes various pictures in the chamber. Homer never gets suspicious of anything.

Answer: Antifreeze

In order for their wine to hit the streets early, the men propose that they put antifreeze in their wine. Maurice suggests that they have Bart test the wine, and luckily he survives. They force Bart to head to town on his bike to buy a case of antifreeze, but he gets the idea to talk to the police.

Although the language barrier stops Bart, he quickly picks up on the language and stops the owners of the winery before being declared a hero.

In the end, Adil is finally tracked down by the FBI because he was sending the Albanian government information about the Springfield nuclear plant via a fax machine in Bart's treehouse. Meanwhile, Bart, with the help of the police, bring down his exchange parents and their plan to poison the wine. Bart returns to his family in the states with plenty of souvenirs.
