Amy and Andrea ended up stuck in Atlanta when they were returning from their road trip, where they were rescued by Dale, who got them out of the city in his RV.

Andrea and Amy were originally from Florida, and in "Vatos", while fishing on the lake, they discuss whether their parents might still be alive back in Florida. Being several years older than her sister, and having gone away to college to study law, Andrea often missed Amy's birthday parties, which is something she regrets. So Andrea picks Amy up a mermaid necklace at the department store as a birthday gift. In "Vatos," she can be seen looking for wrapping paper in Dale's RV to wrap it in.

When Andrea is doing laundry with Carol and Jacqui in "Tell It to the Frogs", Carol's husband Ed comes over and tells them they should be working instead of laughing. Andrea knows Ed abuses Carol and is by now sick of him. She throws his laundry at him violently, saying he can do it himself. Ed then warns her that he won't fail to smack her just because she's some "college-educated [slur])." He demands Carol get up and come with him, ends up smacking Carol, and then is beaten by Shane.

In "Wildfire", while Rick and Daryl and others are at work destroying the brains of the bitten dead so they won't reanimate, Andrea won't let anyone near her sister. When Rick comes close to try to draw her form her dead sister, Andrea points her gun at him. She stays with Amy until she reanimates and only shoots her in the side of the head in the nick of time to avoid being bitten.

Andrea has been contemplating suicide. She wanted to commit suicide at the CDC, but Dale prevented her. When she and Daryl come across the man who committed suicide (and left a note), Daryl says he "made his choice, opted out. Let him hang." Besides, the walker is too high up for Daryl to get his arrow back if he shoots. Andrea, however, wants Daryl to kill the walker.

He asks, "You want to live now? Or not?" Andrea tells him, "An answer for an arrow." He agrees and so she answers that she doesn't know if she "wants" to live, "has" to live, "or if it's just a habit." Daryl replies, "That's not much of an answer. Waste of an arrow."

Carol is the one to bring Daryl dinner in bed at the farmhouse and kiss him on the forehead when he returns, injured, from searching for Sophia. In season 2, episode 6, "Secrets", after Daryl's left the farmhouse and is laid up resting in his tent, Andrea brings him a book to read called "The Case of the Missing Man". Daryl quips, "What, no pictures?" Andrea apologizes for shooting him, and he forgives her.

When Shane and Andrea are out together in "Secret", after a euphoric moment in which she is able to successfully dispatch walkers, and they are safely in the car, Andrea and Shane have a sexual encounter.

Later, in the season 3 episode "Hounded", Andrea ends up having sex with the Governor, despite all the many red flags he has been sending up, including taking her to a gladiator-style fistfight between Merle and Martinez, complete with surrounding walkers.

Andrea participates as a supply runner for the Atlanta camp and goes to the department store with the scavenging group, which is where the audience first encounters her. She later sits atop of Dale's RV serving as a lookout at the Greene family farm, though she does accidentally shoot Daryl in the process.

She asks the Governor if she can help by serving as a Woodbury guard in the season 3 episode "Hounded". Andrea dies before the group makes it to Alexandria.

When Hershel's farm is overrun and Andrea is separated from the group, walkers pursue her into the night. She's out of bullets and about to be set upon by a walker when Michonne suddenly appears and decapitates it. They survive together for a while, Michonne caring for Andrea when she suffers from a flu.

When they investigate a downed helicopter, Merle kidnaps them and takes them to Woodbury. Andrea wants to settle there, but Michonne finds the place suspicious and insists on leaving. When Andrea won't go with her, Michonne bitterly says, "You just slowed me down anyway."

In season 3, episode 16, "Welcome to the Tombs", the Governor binds Andrea in a room. Milton Mamet refuses to kill her at the Governor's order and instead attacks him. The Governor stabs Milton and throws him in the room so he will die, reanimate, and kill Andrea. Before Andrea can fully get free, Milton dies and turn and bites her on the neck. Knowing she will certainly die, Andrea commits suicide by shooting herself.

At this point, Merle was already dead, having died trying to fight the Governor in season 3, episode 15.
