Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the start of season 1, Carol's last name is Peletier.

Answer: True

Carol's last name comes from her abusive husband, Ed. The surname is French in origin and comes from the occupational name of a fur trader.
2. Carol made her first appearance in season one, episode one of "The Walking Dead."

Answer: False

Carol is one of the longest-lived characters on "The Walking Dead." She made her first appearance in season one, episode three, "Tell it to the Frogs," where she is depicted as a meek wife to Ed. While washing clothes in the quarry with the other women, she shares a moment of laughter, which draws her husband's ire. Ed ends up slapping her across the face.
3. Carol has looked after several children in her life. Which of the following was not a child in her charge?

Answer: Gracie

Sophia was Carol's daughter. Carol looked after Lizzie and Mika, two Woodbury refugees, when their father died. She adopted Henry and raised him as her son in the Kingdom. Gracie was discovered by Rick, who killed her father, a Savior, in a scuffle. Gracie was then raised by Aaron.
4. Carol is skilled in many weapons. Which is not one of her weapons of choice?

Answer: Sling shot

Carol learns to use a rifle while in the prison camp. She becomes very skilled with knives as well, and she takes up a bow and arrows once she's settled in the Kingdom. The slingshot, however, is Connie's weapon of choice.
5. Why did Carol initially cut her hair short?

Answer: So Ed couldn't grab it

In "Omega" (season 9, episode 10), Carol's adopted son Henry tells Daryl Dixon that in the past, when Carol attempted to run away from Ed, he would grab her long hair and slam her head against the wall. As a consequence, Carol cut it all off. But once she was married to Ezekiel, she felt comfortable growing it back.
6. What does Carol tell Rick she misses when she's ironing his uniform?

Answer: Her old Maytag

Carol uses a camp iron to press Rick's uniform when he arrives, and she is often seen doing laundry in the lake with the other women.
7. What does Carol give Rick when he banishes her?

Answer: Her late husband's watch

The watch was a gift from her abusive husband Ed. This seems to be a symbol of Carol letting go of her abusive past. Later, when Carol is welcomed back into the fold, and Rick tries to give the watch back, she refuses to accept it.
8. Why does Carol ask Glenn to help her kill a female walker in "Sick"?

Answer: She wants to practice doing a C-section

Carol wanted to be ready to perform a C-section because Hershel was in poor condition to deliver a baby, and Lori had needed a C-section with Carl. In the end, however, Carol isn't even with Lori when she gives birth, and Maggie and Carl have to deliver the baby.
9. Carol kills several people in the course of "The Walking Dead." Who is not one of her "victims"?

Answer: Mika

Carol kills Karen and David in "Infection" to prevent the spread of disease in prison, and then she burns their bodies. For this act, Rick banishes her. When the prison is destroyed, Carol runs into Tyreese, Mika, and Lizzie. After Lizzie kills her sister Mika, Carol feels compelled to shoot her in the back of the head as she "looks at the flowers."
10. Carol has played some official role in the governance of the prison, the Sanctuary, and the Kingdom.

Answer: True

When Rick gave up his leadership role, Carol served on the council at the prison camp, along with Hershel, Sasha, Glenn, and Daryl. Following the defeat of the Saviors, she became a temporary leader of the Sanctuary. She volunteered to replace Daryl in that role because it was weighing heavily on him. Later, she became Queen of the Kingdom after marrying Ezekiel, and she went on to play a role in its governance.
11. Who does Carol say is her "best friend"?

Answer: Daryl

Carol's adopted son Henry tells Daryl that his mother has told him that Daryl is her "best friend." At the end of the ninth season, Carol and Daryl were the only two characters still remaining from season one of "The Walking Dead."
12. Carol comes close to death several times in "The Walking Dead." Which of these near-death scenes did not happen to Carol?

Answer: She was stabbed by a Wolf

In the prison, Carol tells Daryl she has "nine lives," which is good, considering how often she's come close to death.

In "Consumed," while searching for Beth, Carol and Daryl investigate a white van, but they are soon surrounded by a herd of walkers. Locked inside, they hold hands while the walkers topple the van over the bridge, but it miraculously lands on its tires, and they survive largely unscathed. In the same episode, however, while Daryl stays back to help an injured Noah, Carol runs ahead and is struck by a station wagon bearing a white cross. However, she is taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and recovers. In "Last Day on Earth," Carol is shot in the arm by the Savior Roman, but Morgan rescues her before the Savior can finish her off.

In addition to all of these near-death experiences, Carol barely escapes a walker herd on Hershel's burning farm. Fortunately, Daryl hears her cries, turns back for her, and drives off with her on his motorcycle. Later, in the Kingdom, Richard also hatches a plot to kill Carol and make it look like the Saviors did it in order to start a war, but his plans are foiled when he foolishly tries to recruit Daryl.
13. Does Carol attend Sophia's funeral?

Answer: No

When Daryl goes into Dale's RV to get Carol for Sophia's funeral, she refuses to go with him, saying that the dead walker they are burying is no longer her daughter.
14. Who is Carol's boyfriend in season 6?

Answer: Tobin

In season 6, episode 14, "Twice as Far," viewers see Tobin kissing Carol on the porch swing in front of his house. They appear to be living together, but Carol leaves him a "Dear John" letter and leaves Alexandria. She later has to put him down when he becomes a walker.
15. What does Carol use to explode the propane tank at Terminus?

Answer: A rifle and a bottle rocket

Carol uses a rifle and a bottle rocket to explode a large propane tank near the gates of Terminus, which takes down a section of the fences. She is then able to sneak in with the surrounding herd of walkers. This explosion allows Daryl, Rick, Bob, and Glenn a chance to escape from the cannibals, who are about to slaughter them for meat.
